One-man mod. Planed to have over 40 playable factions. Going for realism with units ragin' from as early as late world war 2 to near future units. Mod will be release in the near future, as i plan to release early betas instead of holding on to something that never get released anyway.

So now the UN is involved now ? (BTW This makes me think of "Black Hawk Down") Also , no weapon & upgrades ? This will turn it into a sitting duck against the enemy.

First of all, N/A stands for "not available" as in this informations is not available for the public, and the use for this is also not available for the public, i posted it for one sole reason, to cause confusion and questions. Is this a prop model (civilian model for maps)? or is this part of a faction? reinforcements? what weapons will it use? i guess we all have to wait and see :)

I'm abit evil doing this kinda stuff, adding content without really sayin what it does, would be cool if like... you bombard cities or civilians, and the UN comes along from off the map, drives to the city, helps the civilians and if you enter the town they like start shooting you like crazy, and if you kill a UN vehicle, 3 more will come and aid it, until you get rushed.

Just a reminder not to f**k with the UN.

Then again, i'll prob' just make this into scenary or something... or maybe not :P.. or then again maybe.

IMO the UN shouldn't be a playable faction, unless people actually want to occupy random areas of the map (i.e. towns), and either run or just not fire when the enemy comes.

Not a bad idea to make the UN part of any campaigns, or a non-playable faction in general.

Correct me if im wrong, but the UN does have some sort of ROE (Rules of engagement) and aren't they able to engage threats to civilian life?

Yeah, but look at their first deployment. They were supposed to set up a line of tanks to keep Israel and Egypt from fighting. The Egyptian general said "Move!!" and to avoid violence, the UN left.

United Nations Rules of Engagement in former Jugoslavia .

UN personnel may use their weapons:

a. to defend themselves, other U.N. personnel, or persons and areas under their protection against direct battack, acting always under the order of the senior officer/soldier at the scene.

b. to resist attempts by forceful means to prevent the Force from discharging its duties; or,

c. to resist deliberate military or para-military incursions into the United Nations Protected Areas (UNPAs) or Safe Areas.

Response to Hostile Intent (without Use of Fire)

Option A: Observe and report, withdraw in order to preserve own Force.

Option B: Observe and report, stay in place. Make contact and establish liason with opposing Force(s) and/or local authorities concerned.

Option C: Observe and report, stay in place. Warn aggressor of intent to use force and demonstrate resolve by appropriate means without opening fire(i.e.: **** weapons, deploy troops, etc.).

Response to Hostile Act (with Use of Fire)

Option A: take immediate protection measures, observe and report. Warn the aggressor of intent to use force and demonstrate resolve by appropriate means. Warning shots are authority. if the hostile act does not cease and life is threatened, Option B can be ordered by the troop commander.

Note: in both Option A and Option B the following manoeuvres are authorized (Depending on the situation, order's and reports given by the troop commander):

Response to Hostile Act (Self-Defence)

Anytime, in self-defence situations, take immediate protection measures and/or return fire without challenging.

The following challenging procedure is to be followed in all cases.

a. Warn the aggressor to stop.

b. Repeat the warnings as many times as possible to ensure that the aggressor has understood the situation.

c. Charge weapons if not already authorized.

d. Fire warning shots in the air.

e. If the warnings are ignored, on order open fire.

When it becomes necessary to open fire, he following principles apply:

a. Action which may reasonably be expected to cause collateral damage is prohibited.

b. Fire is to be used only until the aggressor has stopped firing.

c. Retaliation is forbidden.

d. Minimum force is to be used at all times.

The only circumstances in which it is permissible to open fire without challenging is in Self-defence. When an attack by an aggressor comes so unexpectedly that even a moment's delay could:

a. lead to death or serious injury to the U.N. personnel;

b. lead to death or serious injury to persons whom it is the UN duty to protect; or,

c. the property which UN has been ordered to guard with firearms is actually under attack.

General Rules

1. You have the right to use force in self-defence.

2. In all situations you are to use minimum force necessary. FIRE ARMS MUST ONLY BE USED AS A LAST RESORT.

3. A challenge must be given before opening fire unless:

a. to do so would increase the risk of death or grave injury to you or any other person;

b. you or others in the immediate vicinity are under armed attack.

4. You are to challenge in English by shouting: "U.N.! STOP OR I WILL FIRE!"

You may only open fire against a person if he/she is commiting or about to commit an act LIKELY TO ENDANGER LIFE, AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO STOP THE HOSTILE ACT. Dependent always on the circumstances, stances.

Hopefully this clears it up abit.
