Ashes is a Post-apocalypse themed total conversion for the GZDoom engine. It combines old school build style level design and Doom style action with a twist of Stalker and Fallout.

Damn, that's a diamond-solid project! Most ambitious since Blade of Agony. The atmosphere is just stunning, and the art style is ingenious! Well done!
Melee is totally useless.
This mod is an amazing feat. The maps, the custom sprites, the weapon handling, the story. Everything is of top tier quality you would normally find in commercial games. I hope they release it for sale like Hedon did, as this team really deserves to reap the rewards for their incredible work.
I had a blast playing this, and I really hope that the creators will continue to create.
It's far better that Fallout 76 and it's also free.

As cherry on the top of that free cake - it can be played with monster/weapon packs (thanks to development of "sterilized" versions of Ashes, Dead Man Walking and Afterglow episodes)!
Not just the best Doom mod I've played to date, one of the best old school shooter mods I've played (Duke mods included). Outstanding style, art design, music, atmosphere and surprisingly great story and writing.
