Ive altered all of the music files for Amnesia to attempt to replicate a sortof surround sound system on standard 2.1/2.0 pc speaker systems or higher (quadraphonic etc. "expands" the audio), THIS IS NOT FOR HEADPHONES (though with the new update, you may find it enhances the experience anyway). If you enjoy it or think it significantly enhances the Amnesia experience, tell me about it via comment, please rate this mod, it will be greatly appreciated... thank you all for trying this out, keeping my ranking higher than I previously ever would have expected.
Unfortunately your antivirus software might complain because my installer is "deemed malicious" or something like that, well its not true. The reason for this false alarm is that I use Wilson WindowWare's Winbatch (Winbatch.com) to script this installer, when the script is compiled, there is no built in interpreter for winbatch (in windows); so the exe file is merely compiled with an interpreter built in. Some clever malicious software recompiles itself in ram to avoid detection by antivirus software. The executible for the installer contains a copy of the original source of the program which is loaded in such a manor that it may appear to be malicious, but its not... I apologise for any inconveniences.

I have uploaded the game menu music for "Amnesia: the Dark Descent" in "5.1 Surround", please tell me what you think of this file? ( Moddb.com )
Forget that, for some reason the dl link disappeared on me for a bit. Spotted it after posting the comment, I had a bad feeling that would happen.
Now I ran the install but I don't notice a difference when I start Amnesia. Does it modify only gameplay? Should I reboot?
There doesn't seem to be a download?
the download is in the add-ons category.
Ive successfully upscaled SOME of the amnesia soundtrack to 5.1 :D however, the hpl2 engine does not support 5.1 channel surround for music, so the files will just be for listening, there is a ray of hope, the sound effects can be played in multi-channel surround, using ( 205.196.123.205 ) just install the dll file "soft_oal.dll" into the amnesia "redist" folder then when you start up the amnesia launcher there should be an "unsupported" device in the list of usable sound cards, select that device (if there are more than one, select the "unsupported" device for the sound card you wish to use) and play away... I will upload the 5.1 files just for fun but it'll be a few days, i'm busy as ____ at a college summer program... There is a linux exclusive openal extension ( Adalin.com ) but I currently am not able to test this out, linux users, good luck to you.
If any of you play "Penumbra: The Black Plague" or "Penumbra: Overture" or "Penumbra: Requiem" I can upload virtual surround versions of their background music aswell... I currently only have "Penumbra: The Black Plague" complete, if any of you want this, notify me.

Thanks for this. I'll definitely will be trying it out.
For a game that has such superb sound design, I'm quite surprised that it was released without support for surround sound.
Strange.
In any case, I'm wondering why this mod's been given such a mediocre rating (on THIS page), when it's attempting to do something that's pretty important. Would anyone care to try and enlighten me as to why they're ranking the mod so low?
Thanks for your work on this Alex.
That picture made me laugh :D but nice job
