This is the full release version of my mod "Amadeus".
Changes in version 1.3.1
- Added another letter from Mr Cameron.
- Balanced some enemy encounters.
- An event involving boxes was not replayable after death. That is fixed.
- Another event in the same level was a bit confusing. I hope that is fixed now.
- Gave the later levels a bit more love. They have gotten a little bit more polish in every update I've made since release. The reason being is that I always felt they were a bit rushed. It's simply minor visual and balancing changes tho. It's still the same levels.
- Fixed every god damn texture clipping I could find.

- Fixed a bug where a certain someone could... walk through walls.

- Added Czech Translation (Credits to SwankestCZ). For some reason you have to RESTART the game after changing language. No idea why but that is the case.
- Did some more balancing.
- Took time to decorate the last few levels a little bit more where I deemed it to be necessary.

- Added missing block box on the large window in The Cellar.
- Added a small scene where Cornelius fate is revealed.
- Added and moved some oil flasks for balance.
- Moved Conservatory check point and made enemy respawn after death.
- Moved Mausoleum first check point to a more logical place.
- Made loading texts stay a little longer.
- Tweaked enemy attributes.
Installation guide
Requires Amnesia 1.3 update
First off, you need the Amnesia 1.3 update to play this mod. Steam users have this update automatically but non-steam users need to manually download this update. Download the Amnesia 1.3 update here.
Step 2) For Steam Version
Extract the "Amadeus"-folder inside your root "Amnesia the dark descent"-folder
The path is usually like this:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\amnesia the dark descent
Inside the "Amadeus"-folder you will find "Amadeus.bat". Double click it.
If this doesn't work try this:
- Go to your gaming library on steam and right click "Amnesia: The Dark Descent".
- Choose "Properties" and click "Set launch options"
- Type this in in the text field: Amadeus/config/Amadeus_main_init.cfg
Now start amnesia through the steam library and you should be able to play the mod.
Step 2) For Non-Steam Version
Extract the "Amadeus"-folder inside the "redist"-folder located in your root "Amnesia the dark descent"-folder
The path is usually like this:
C:\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\redist
Inside the "Amadeus"-folder you will find "Amadeus.bat". Double click it.

I have never downloaded a mod before in my life, I would kindly appreciate it if I got some help. I installed the files, clicked on the Batch File and it would start. Then I did the alternate approach by typing in the advanced field yet it still won't work. I'm just curious if I could be doing something wrong due to my inexperience.

Hello from the future. I unpacked the deal into the root folder, but now every time I try to open the Windows Batch File nothing happens. I tried running it as an administrator but that did nothing. So I tried copying and pasting the second option into the game's Launch Options via Steam, but upon trying to launch the game I was simply greeted with a window stating "Error! Could not load main init file: Amadeus/config/Amadeus_main_init.cfg". Any idea on what I may be doing wrong? I'd appreciate the help.
I can't get the mod to work. If I try to start the game it just flashes a screen and closes immediately. I've tried to run the aplication trough steam launch options with: Amadeus/config/Amadeus_main_init.cfg but it still does not work.. it gives me an error that says: Could not load main init file: Amadeus/config/Amadeus_main_init.cfg. please help.

This Amnesia mod is very great. I did play a little, and had to not play it again. Well then...
doesnt work. and what do you mean extract in the root dark descent file? as in a file called root? or the amnesia dark descent file in steamapps? no mention of custom story file? how to convert RAR files? what the pathway means? doesnt say if you download the file to the folder, and then extrat to same folder, or if you download to another folder and trhen extract the contents to root folder. basically your instructions are unintelligasble gibberish and cant be followed. cheers for nothing
I believe that you don't understand the simple procedure to install the mod. Using Winrar or 7zip extract the folder and then copy the "Amadeus" folder and paste it in the "Amnesia the dark descent" folder and then double-click on the Amadeus.bat file. Is it so complicated?

I don't know if it's a bug or I just missed something, I died after I climbed the ladder during the chase scene (near the end of the game) in the sewer where you have to turn the wheels to open the doors and one of the wheels needs to be replaced by a crank, anyway, I died after I climbed the ladder and was running through the city area. After I respawned (near where I found the wooden crank), the door to the ladder room was closed, had a small hole in it made by the monster that was chasing me, and was unable to be opened. After a while of not knowing what to do, I selected exit (without saving) and then clicked continue after which I was brought back to the start of the chase scene, and I could once again pass the level and open the door to the ladder room. The second time I managed to not die.
