The chief research leader of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) placed his head into his palm. For 2 weeks he had barely any sleep, running solely on a mixture of caffeine drinks and nutrition bars.
In the storage facility beneath this research facility (which does not exist officially) was a vehicle of unknown origin and design. For the past several weeks the team leader had been liaising with his staff and the ESDF generals on the ramifications of this vehicle for ESDF weapon design.
The vehicle was jet black and had distinct green markings. It hovered in place much like the Paradigm ripper drones but its hovering state was far more stable.
The sonic cannon weapon was unfortunately disabled from the dead zone emission event but simulations suggested a weapon of high damage potential.
The team was about 90% through the necessary work to reverse engineer the vehicles technology onto a larger chassis with a much larger sonic weapon. The ESDF forces had managed to recover a similar vehicle to the one in the hanger but it was in a tan colour and had noticeably exposed wiring.
Unfortunately the current vehicle was somewhat fragile and vulnerable to fire. The ESDF needed armour technology and components to reinforce the chassis and weapon. The solution identified by the ESDF intelligence networks was Paradigm databanks located in heavily fortified battle labs.
The chief research leader was on the runway as the unnamed agent in cloaking equipment boarded a permanently cloaked Blackhawk. Both of these technologies had been salvaged from a ruined black structure which somewhat resembled a brain and spinal cord.
It lifted off the runway heading for its objective in the middle of the night.
