I think it'd be cool if heavy damage could cripple specific starship systems.

This one got unlucky, and got starship incontinence.

I think there is a damage system being implemented into AOTF, more sophisticated than that in STA3. If I don't stand corrected.

DerKommissar: A system like this does exist in AOTF and is linked to the visual damage you can see.

Amazing! How did you implement this linking regarding Sins' engine limitations? I never thought something like this possible!

When a ship reaches a certain level of damage it triggers a debuff that slows its movement speed, turn rate, firing rate, etc. and the only way to repair it at that point is to get it to a repair station.

I understand. But maybe I got this wrong, as I thought that the visuals actually correspond to individual damage-state-buffs, e.g. a debuff in movement speed is accompanied by a sparking warp coil or fire/smoke particles on the main section 'show' a debuff in fire rate, damage output or similar.

I think I just maybe got a little too enthusiastic. :D

All we need is for you guys to make your version of the Narada and have it facing the Kelvin class and we'd have a movie

Description

USS Curie seeks refuge after a run in with a pair of Klingon Birds of Prey. Leaking drive plasma, the ship won't be able to hide for long, and her battle damage means the Curie certainly won't be able to outrun or fight off any attackers if discovered. With few alternatives the Curie's captain throws all the crew's efforts into repairing the warp engines.

It's a close call. Using every innovation at their disposal the Curie's engineering crew manage a patchwork repair of the warp drive, allowing the Curie to escape to warp just as another Bird of Prey is detected entering the system.
