Ages of the Federation 2 is the upcoming second installment in our series of total conversions for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The mod takes place primarily from The Motion Picture Era (TMP) and during The Lost Era (TLE), focusing on the border conflict between the United Federation of Planets and the Cardassian Empire. The Klingons, ever ready for battle are poised to launch war on those they consider worthy of their mettle and as always, the Romulan Star Empire stands ready to take advantage of any perceived weakness to advance its own secretive aims.

Greetings all,

I'll be keeping it brief today. It's been a while since we posted anything regarding AOTF2 so we thought we'd get in before the "Is this mod dead?" comments start popping up.

The short answer is no, AOTF2 is not dead. Far from it, in fact.

If you've been following us over on the STA3 and AOTF pages, you'll know that a great deal of work is going on to shape both of those mods up for their own re-releases. In fact, a lot of the work we've already done for AOTF2 inspired many of the ideas for the work we're doing on AOTF.

Given the manpower we have available, the amount of work to be done on both mods and the limited number of hours in any given day, we've decided to put work on AOTF2 on hold for now. I want to stress that this is a temporary measure. Once our schedule clears somewhat work on AOTF2 will most certainly re-commence.

The good news is that much of the work we do on AOTF is transferrable to AOTF2, so work on one is essentially work on the other. This also means that when the time comes for us to return to AOTF2, we'll no doubt make progress at a cracking pace. So from that point of view it's not really 'on hold' at all.

We'll definitely still be posting screenshots and keeping you in the loop (but to really stay in the loop you should join our Discord), but nevertheless you can expect AOTF2 content to slow down for a while. In the meantime, you've still got the re-releases of Armada 3 and Ages of the Federation to look forward to - they're both going to be amazing.

Rest assured that AOTF2 is a project we're very excited about. In our opinion it's going to contain some of our best work. We'll be back to it as soon as we can.

Til next time, stay classy. Or don't.

Sad to read, that this one is on hold for now. I'm REALLY excited about this version. I mean, it will contain the most beautiful ship-classes of the franchise and will cover a period that we never got to explore in depth.
Well... The same is the case for version 1, but I would love to play this one even more!

With the mods you guys have already created in mind, this will surely be a blast.
I won't leave my computer for a while, after this finally comes out. xD

But it would be great to know, what you guys have planned for the different factions. As far as I know there will be different "fleets" for the Federation and some of the others.
Care to elaborate this a little more? Maybe in an article?

What we originally concepted out for AOTF2 has been reviewed somewhat due to the core changes going on in AOTF1 so while I'd love to jump back into concepting the factions and fleets for this mod, until AOTF1 is finished and released we're not entirely sure due to how much that will also impact this mod.

Well this is fantastic, just fantastic. It is my hope that one day in the future whe might also see an Ages 3, where we might explore a futuristic timeline (No not DISC's 32nd centry or Picard's dystopian Federation.) Perhaps something akin to what we saw in the (aptly named) All Good Things. I'd love to take that refit D out for a spin!

Ugh. PIC turned out so lousy and I was actually kinda hyped for it. And DIS just does not look good to me. I like my Trek optimistic and thought-provoking. Not shock value.

I'd love to see an AGT mod.

I was as well. Picard's quote in Generations about time has new meaning to me. And even the not so bright future presented in 'All Good Things' was better than PIC. Which is perhaps something that would be need to explore in a game. Klingons and Federation are at war. Romulans have been conquered by Klingons (And are perhaps mounting a resistance secretly aided by the feds?) and the Cardassians... Perhaps the Daytapa Council is leading them now? Who knows? Like I said I just want to be able to build the Refit D. She was AWESOME.
