Ages of the Federation 2 is the upcoming second installment in our series of total conversions for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The mod takes place primarily from The Motion Picture Era (TMP) and during The Lost Era (TLE), focusing on the border conflict between the United Federation of Planets and the Cardassian Empire. The Klingons, ever ready for battle are poised to launch war on those they consider worthy of their mettle and as always, the Romulan Star Empire stands ready to take advantage of any perceived weakness to advance its own secretive aims.
Greetings all,
Today is unfortunately a sad announcement that we've honestly been putting off for far too long, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, given the flurry of questions about this project we've recently received, it's clear that you all deserve a clear statement regarding the current state of AOTF2.
I'll get straight to the point, then - Ages of the Federation 2 is no longer in development. This project has sadly been cancelled.
This decision has certainly not been made due to a lack of interest on our part - we were very excited to work on AOTF2 and to flesh out an era of Star Trek lore that we on the team universally love.
Unfortunately, given the estimated amount of time until the release of Sins of a Solar Empire 2, there is simply not enough time for us to finally complete Ages of the Federation, Star Wars: Strike Groups, and Ages of the Federation 2 before modding tools for Sins 2 become available.
You may rightfully ask why we would 'abandon' this project while continuing to work on the more recently announced Star Wars: Strike Groups, and the answer is simple - SWSG was a behind-the-scenes personal project for a number of years before it was announced, and a fair amount of progress had been made before we decided to make its existence public. Compared to our other projects, Ages of the Federation 2 is at a much earlier stage of deveopment, by a fairly wide margin.
So, what about the future?
We'll have to wait and see what we're working with in regards to Sins 2. That's frustrating to hear, I know, but it's the truth. We simply don't know yet what what we can do, but when we know more we'll certainly be having a discussion as a team about what to do next. What we do know has us excited, though, so while today's news may be a bit of a blow, the future is still looking bright. It would sure be a shame to waste all these TMP/TLE ship models, wouldn't it? ;)
Keep an eye on us, especially as SIns 2 draws closer.
Until next time, stay classy. Or don't.

It's been a while since any update. What's going on with AOTF2?
With Christmas descending upon us like a ravenous elven tide, we hope you'll join us as we hunker down to celebrate the season from the relative safety...
It's time for you to support the mods you enjoy as they battle it out in the ultimate fight to the death.
This was my FAVORTITE era... The I-VI era was what gave me that sense of wonder. I still listen to the Leaving Spacedock theme when I'm pulling out of my garage. It gives me goosebumps. I hope there's a mod for this era in Sins2, it'll be the sole reason I buy that game.
Ohhh no that is very sad, i was very excited about AOTF2 :(
But the reasons are clear for everyone I think. Do you guys have any hopes that it will be possible to adept this mod later to Sins 2?
Everything we have made we want to see the light of day... Maybe not exactly how we originally planned but in some project for Sins 2 eventually is my goal.

Is there a way u can get the person who made the models for the game, to release the models, we have no good Lyran, Hydran, and Mirak models, Please at least do that
hey, how is this going so far? any progress done?
The project is on hold while we decide if we're going to transition it to Sins 2 or make something new for Sins 2.
So what's the status on this? Also it's a small point, but will the abilities be largely auto-cast like STA3, or manual like AOTF 1?
Looking good though from what I can see, can't wait for the initial release!
We'll be returning to AOTF2 after the re-release of AOTF1, which will serve as the foundation of the sequel. In that sense, work on one is essentially work on the other.
We have yet to make any final decisions regarding abilities for AOTF2. We're learning a lot from our work on AOTF1 and that will inform how we proceed with AOTF2.
So...
I now that it's really early to be making a suggestion for the game...
But.
California Class as a low tier frigate for the first fleet?
The Cali will almost certainly be appearing, have no fear about that.
