Explaining the military units of Age of Stainless Steel (AOE2 mod), types, advantages and disadvantages and how to use them. This is part 4 - the Stable units.

This article is a explanation of the military units of Age of Stainless Steel mod. The units will be group in lines (equal a base unit with all it's upgrade unit), and will start organizing them in their train buildings. The list starts first the the common trained units that consumes only food and wood to be trained, and only tent population:

4. Stable units

Light Cavalry


a. Light Cavalry Line. This line is composed of Scout, Light Cavalry and Guard Cavalry. The units of this line are mounted units with no armor horses and armored only with sword. This line is nearly the same of the Vanilla, but with dismounted units. The advantage of this line is that have the best LOS of all land units, are fast moving units, are a mounted unit, an early unit and have very good ROF. The disadvantages are not having an armor, high cost and not a good attack. These units are good to counter archers and to hunt down infantry. Just need to keep them away from spears and Knights.

Light Lancer1


b. Light Lancer Line. This line is composed of Light Lancer and Demi Lancer. The units of this line are mounted units with no armor horses and armored with a lance. The advantage of this line is that have trample damage, very good LOS, are the fastest moving land units, are a mounted unit and have high attack. The disadvantage are not having an armor, a late unit, high cost and low ROF. These units are very good for hit and run melee attacks vs large numbers of units and hunt down every unit. Just need to keep them away from spears and Knights.

Cav Archer


c. Cavalry Archer Line. This line is composed of Cavalry Archer and Heavy Cavalry Archer. The units of this line are mounted units with no armor horses and armored with a bow. The advantage of this line is that have very good LOS, are fast moving units, are a mounted unit, an early unit and have range attack. The disadvantage are not having an armor, high cost, low ROF and low accuracy. These units are very good for hit and run range attacks, and harass enemy army. Just need to keep them away from every melee fights.

Mounted Crossbow


d. Mounted Crossbowman Line. This line is composed of just the Mounted Crossbowman. The units of this line are mounted units with no armor horses and armored with a crossbow. The advantage of this line is that have very good LOS, are fast moving units, are a mounted unit and have range attack. The disadvantage are not having an armor, not an early unit, high cost and very low ROF. These units are very good for hit and run range attacks, and harass enemy army, and a decent replace for Cavalry Archer Line. Just need to keep them away from every melee fights.

Mounted Arquebus


e. Mounted Arquebusier Line. This line is composed of just the Mounted Arquebusier. The units of this line are mounted units with no armor horses and armored with a arquebus. This is the best ranged unit. The advantage of this line is that have very good LOS, are fast moving units, are a mounted unit, have range attack, have high attack and can penetrate every armor. The disadvantage are not having an armor, a very late unit, high cost, not a high range and very low ROF. These units are the best for hit and run range attacks, there are no units that can resist their attack. Just need to keep them away from every melee fights.
