Description

Even though old definition was more simple in terms of game mechanics, it created much confusion because of unit's descriptions mismatch with its in-game tags, leading to messed up counter informations; major example is the melee bonus versus "light infantry" (coyote runners etc) of musketeer-type units, which led everyone at least in the beginning to try attacking skirmishers in melee (since skirmisher description stated it was "light infantry").
Speaking about cavalry, we reintrduced the differentiation among light, heavy and ranged cavalry, cut from game initial concept; it didn't create as much confusion as light infantry, but in some situations did, mostly not involving counters: examples are Hussars, Uhlans etc called "Light cavalry", but treated as Heavy from Ranged Cavalry bonuses; Sioux Rifle Riders, ironically, were classified as both Heavy and Light Cavalry by the original game.
With this revamp we wanted to bring a little bit of clarity to game's UI (xmls tags are still the same), even if not as simple as the previous one, but sure allows a more intuitive approach to game counters
