I'm sorry but your designs are really bad. I can understand that you are trying to accurately recreate the original AoE designs, but fact is, the more hi-res graphics you have, so weirder low-res 2D recreations will look in it.

For once, where the odd team color elements in original game were compromises between readability and realistic visuals, your current team colours look significantly more weird - I'm not sure how exactly do you designate texture elements as team colors, but if I were you I'd look into ability of overlapping team colors with some sort of texture or something so the elements would look look more natural, like dyed wood, cloth or rocks and not plain brightly colored objects.

Next, your approach to recreating the geometry accurately is very questionable - like, you could probably skip recreating some elements as accurately to save up on polygons, esp. with structures like government center.

Oh and try to make things look natural shading and marks to textures and in general creating more interesting geometry and materials-accurate geometric shapes and monotonic tiles never look natural. Definitely add some elements that were not present in original assets to liven things up, too - the original assets were a product of technical limitations, recreating them is silly. Like, your early dock looks like a giant X, consider giving it more natural shapes, do away with symmetry and add larger rocks - tiny details that change almost nothing should either re removed entirely or made more noticeable.

You're right, these aren't the best models, I am not an expert modeler and texture but these are what I can do. I am going to recreate the buildings as I see fit with the amount of polys I'm comfortable with. But the docks looked like a giant X in the original game, so that's how they'll look here, some buildings will be changed but almost all of them will be 1 for 1.

And the player colour point, you're correct, they look bad. But I've tried to mix it in so that it looks like dyed cloth but it doesn't work, so this is how they'll have to look until I can find a way to do that.
