The Advance Wars Mod is a mod for Command And Conquer: Generals: Zerohour. It is loosely based off of the Advance Wars series the units, characters, and story will be completely original, but the art style, and simple game play mechanics will remain intact.

In the first public release there will be:
- 10 new units total.
- 4 new civillian and millitary tech buildings.
- A new campaign complete with pre-mission and in game cinematics.
- New multiplayer maps.
- New gameplay mechanics with greater emphasis on having all 7 combat units work in a rock paper scissors fashion.

News

(I just posted the image without the article last, here is the information that was meant to go with it)

This is the first news post and essentially the launching of the Advance Wars mod.

As the name suggests, this mod is loosely based off of the advance wars series. Although there will be many similarities between this mod and the advance wars series, the units, characters, and story will be completely original, but the art style, and simple game play mechanics will remain intact. There are currently 9 units planned to be ready for the first public release of this mod, with the possibility of more units being added after that date.

The first unit that will be released, in this update, is the "Goliath Tank" or more simply referred to as, the Heavy Tank. The Goliath tank was developed for the sole purposing of going toe to toe with enemy tank battalions. This tank is slow, heavy, and armed to teeth. The Goliath Tank can absorb and dish out more damage than any other unit on the battlefield and can do so at a longer range than the standard version of any other tank. Its main drawbacks are, it's slow firing speed, low manoeuvrability, and slow turret rotation making it susceptible to well executed flanking manoeuvres, and a very poor offensive unit.

Although not textured, you can get an idea of what it might look like from this work in progress shot of the Goliath tank. :)

Since this mod is just in it's beginning stages, we need a team of talented staff to help see it through until its completion. We currently need modellers, texture artists, concept artists, ini coders, mappers, and a cameo artist, if you are, or know anyone who would be interested in helping out with this mod please apply in the appropriate thread in the Open Jobs section of the forum. If you help in any of those areas this mod of course needs loyal fans to support this mod. ;)

In the next update, expect info and possibly a screenshot of the "Ostrich Tank", an update and perhaps a release of the website, as well as background info on the world in which this mod takes place, with a few bits of info on the story and hopefully the announcement of a few new team members.

I loved Advance Wars but I agree with Aurora, this will be hard to impliment a turn based game into an RTS format. However, you get my watch. I love the idea. Don't forget to get the copyright rights!
