The year is 2100. It has been 40 years since the Black Mesa fiasco on planet Earth. Currently, Earth has perfected stealth technology to the point of complete invisibility. This is a threat to Esidarap, as the CIA in a joint venture with the military has adapted stealth to be used on interstellar space ships. These ships could pass undetected through Esidarap's "First Strike" defense system which is located on Esidarap's 4 moons. This defense system was built by the wise founding fathers of Esidarap over 2 thousand years ago to keep the planet isolated and protected from the evil and primative influences of other less advanced alien cultures. World Council in it's wisdom and knowledge of Earth, know it is only a matter of time before the first Earthling religious missionaries arrive to convert, "brainwash" us poor ignorant Esidarap savages into submission prior to their total occupation of Esidarap. We cannot allow this to happen.

Honestly not sure what to say, it's isn't bad but it can be confusing I guess.

This is one of the first mods I played, and its also has a weirdness to it. First off theres only one spot to get the HEV suit and if you miss it (which is likely if you don’t break all the big crates you come across) it can leave you a bit of a lurch :)
It has some neat ideas like a big series of vents to jump on, a grinder, and going back through time… but the time travel thing wasn’t used well. You could have gone through a area, gone back in time and see how it has changed but we only got one very short scene of that.
Largely it has some average level design with a very bizarre leap of faith section that I never understood the appeal of.
The level design is a little plain but it doesn’t use any of the traditional HL stuff of corridors, secrets, vents, black mesa styled environments.. instead opts for larger rooms populated with its own unique premise.
Theres the grunt quarters with some tasty surprises.. and the ending with the peaceful alien planet is badly done, plain looking.
It seems whenever someone attempts alien planets it always looks bland or over the top giant plants and animals like Avatar.

One of the mods saving graces is that its a bit more difficult than the standard affair thanks to the grunts.

For some reason whenever Grey Dog created something for HL it's been met with negativity and I don't know why. To me, his mods and maps are all unique in a way that they are meant to be fun first and coherent second.

Adam is the same, even though there is a story here the mapping doesn't make sense. You go through crazy experiment rooms, a giant meat grinder etc. but that's not a bad thing at all. The creator prioritizes wackiness/fun and the maps themselves aren't poorly made.

Definitely deserves higher than a four out of ten.

A broken mod that isn't creative nor fun.

This mod has a hard-to-follow story, that has to be read before playing in a .txt file and contradicts itself in-game. Some levels just feel like they were designed out of boredom, from the developer messing around instead of serving a purpose. The gameplay is good but basic, and crucial items like the HEV suit can be easily missed. Also, there’s like 10 minutes of fighting enemies before you get the HEV suit, and that’s just annoying, not seeing your health or ammo and such. And the infamous section with naked models and IRL porn textures is unnecessary and distracting. Again, this doesn’t feel like a real mod but a new goldsrcer’s first time trying things out. It’s important to remember while playing that this is from 2000, and the HL modding community’s standards were different then, but that doesn’t stop this mod from feeling half-baked.

A very strange mod with long corridors and ****. Not very good.

Very meh-ish in terms of level-design, although some of the scripted events were humorous.
However, the pornographic themes were an unpleasant surprise and got excessive way too fast.

Ultimately, this mod suffers from bad ideas with bad implementation, as the time-travel segments were not done as well as they could have been and the leap of faith portions were better off left on the drawing board.

There is still some fun to be found in Adam, but only the best half-life fan should give this a try :/

Just gave it 10, because the overall rating is too low. Maybe it's not worth 10, but it's a fun enough old-school mod.
