This mod aims to update much of the 2004 Axis and Allies RTS game to modern day warfare. A new campaign is planned along with a new WW2 mode, and current nations to be involved include China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, EU, and many other countries. Infantry and naval combat are being entirely reworked, as is the game economy.
Sorry for the large gaps with no information or updates, everyone. Just been really busy with school and have been dealing with major medical issues that have been resolved for the most part after a few months of treatment.
Currently, I am focusing work on doing each country in the mod in an alphabetical manner. So to start, Albania will be first followed by Algeria and so on. To cut down on countries, some nations are being grouped into regional coalitions. For example, many smaller African countries will be in a faction known as the "Africa Coalition" and most of the Gulf States will likewise be grouped into a regional coalition, etc.
Naval work is being put on the back burner to focus on ground and air assets. There may be some ships added on release, but it will mostly be ported models for the time being.
Feel free to ask any questions or leave suggestions. Below is how my research and work is being organized for the time being.

Though I have presently stopped working on this mod specifically and this sort of mod in general, a very talented modder and good member of this community...

I was also looking forward to this mod. I don't get a lot of feedback either nor have I had many negative comments. I am not at your skill level but I keep moving along and I do what I can. I enjoying modding and playing this game and every once in a while I come up with some new ideas. I know how much work it is modding. When I was creating all those additional territories it was very difficult and demanding keeping it all straight required a lot of concentration and time but it is fulfilling when it all works out. But most of all I enjoyed doing it, if you don't enjoy what you are doing then it is time to move on. Good luck on what ever you decide.
I always watched progress this mod and I liked that that you do. Eventually, on Axis & Allies not too it is a lot of mods to me it was possible to see. Especially such as this. So I hope, that its development nevertheless will proceed.

what techniques have you tried for helicopters?
the only idea I've got is "flying halftracks". essentially make them very fast moving halftrack style units that can summon infantry. if you give them 'ethereal' properties they should be able to 'fly' over mountains and other impassable terrain. the downside to this is that infantry can attack them in spite of them having the appearance of flying (by use of an elevated model and animation). the other really big problem is that they can only operate over land.
since their relative position to other 'ground' units would be unchanged, they could still use a regular summons to create infantry when near enemy units with the pre-existing control and guard range parameters.
still, this might be the best solution for the air-cavalry function of helicopters.
as a possible solution, you could make them nearly immune to regular forms of damage. creating new types of attacks and damage isn't too difficult either. maybe create a new type of anti-aircraft damage that gets used against the helicopter/halftracks?
It's been a while, but if I remember right, Ethereal units either cannot be attacked or can not be controlled. One of those.
HI could you add the Leopard 2A6 for the Germans it's a decent tank as well here is Discovery channel video Youtu.be and proven or not the Challenger 2 is not even a good tank I even think Abrams is more effective. I did research on the challenger 2 it got it's frontal belly armour destroyed by a RPG 27
