It is the very only game where you have this, because it is also the only game with a time where the playable area gets hostile as f*ck (best seen in Misery, I don't want to encounter mutants in MISERY in general, but at NIGHT?). You have to plan, think strategically, what your next actions will be. Misery continues this with adding more survival elements...if you choose to make everything alone (example: Mitays hostage), you can prepare for a VERY soon death. Or if you are still wandering around at Jupiter at 9pm, you are pretty f*cked.
I would say that's the unique feature of the STALKER games.
You have the same in other RPG games like Skyrim, but it doesn't feels so realistic, more simulated or it is only pretence. Drawn sword or Bow, run forward and kill.
Here you have to plan, think strategically, what your next actions will be.

It is not the sounds, it is also the mutant encounters you get there :D In Misery, they can be fatal at daytime already, so in the night, where you can only see sh*t...you're pretty damn f*cked.

It´s funny, you have some kind of "daily routine" in the STALKER games. Wake up at 6.00 - 7.00 and do your last tasks before 23.00 - 0.00 :D

I always try to avoid them its not that hard even in night only if you have a good nightvision installed on your helmet
