Where did you even get that idea? Why do you even think there will be a next update?

Except it's just the autumn theme. The next time you'll see it updated is during halloween, then after it ends, then it'll switch to a winter theme, christmas and so on.

You didn't say anything about legality.
I support the idea, though. Standalone would be noice.

Since you're low on manpower here, I was wondering if there's any way we could help. I'm sure there are a lot of us here who would be willing and able to do some of the simple, time-consuming things so you could focus on the actual features, bug fixing etc.

Why would you want it anyway, though? Are crashes really that interesting?

It will not work. Alpha Project uses a cool kit creation system and the weapons pack will either overwrite it or, if I'm right about how I think the system works, will not be used at all. The chance that it works is, in my opinion, zero. I've done some bf2 modding and I know a bit about how the things work there and I just don't see how it could work. Best you can hope for is that this favourite weapon of yours is in the game or will come soon with the next update.

I think weapon accuracy is fine. In fact I can't really think of any improvements.
I would recommend a different change. MG fire from a tank/APC/IFV is ineffective at 200m already. It takes several seconds at aimed fire towards a target at that distance to kill it. Killing the driver of a vehicle without destroying the vehicle requires lots of luck. In real life MGs are usually effective to some 700m at least. I would suggest making MG fire from vehicles effective to some 200-300m, that would make destroying armor important for infantry advancement, however you could still defeat it without armor of your own.
Also, I would suggest increasing maximum view distances of both vehicles and humans.
However, since they're already at a "second internal testing phase", I'm pretty sure it's no longer balancing in which case such suggestions will very likely be ignored, and rightfully so. These are minor adjustments (though the view distance, in my opinion, is important, but considering the devs haven't changed that (or already have for 0.31, who knows), that's likely not important for them).
And since, I'm sure, they're not too excited about the idea of releasing a 0.32 or 0.4, we're probably never going to see those changes in the official release.
Best we can hope for is that they try creating their own game where they are not limited by the BF2 engine (I've forgotten the name...) and they can do a lot of things they skipped here.

Actually it's more realistic for a tank to be destroyed from one AT hit. In real life the rocket either penetrates or it doesn't. If it does, the tank is ****** and crew is probably dead. If it doesn't, then it doesn't affect the tank's performance in any way. There are things like damaging the tracks or, in case of t90 for example, hitting the back of the turret which is where the "brains" of the tank is, rendering it useless, but the crew might stay alive, but mostly it's either completely ****** or completely fine.
I would like AT to be hell for tanks. This would encourage some co-operation for effective tank use in multiplayer.

For LAN it usually ctds, however, on rare occasions it somehow works. However right now the problem is that the launcher needed for MP simply can't find my game.

I don't know where else to put this question, so I'll put it here where it's the most relevant.
I have a legit copy of the game, but the DVD is damaged. Therefore I cannot install the game through usual means. Simply copying an existing install has worked so far for single-player, but it's never going to work for MP. Any suggestions? Could all the registry stuff be copied from somewhere? If I got that fixed, I'd be on the server, but right now I simply can't.

Is there an easy way to make the AK5 show up as FN FNC on desert maps? It wouldn't make sense for a warm-ish weather weapon redesigned for near-arctic temperatures to be used in desert. Swedes do use it in Afganistan, since it's their standard issue, but it still hurts the realism nut inside of me.

Yeah, random crashes are the worst. I don't know if bf2 generates any logs or something like that which can be used to understand those. But I'm sure most of these things will be fixed in the upcoming patch.

I've done some testing and I found that at least in my opinion the best option is reducing the size to 12x12. Not only is it smaller that way, but it's also more circular as opposed to the oval that the original 20x23 creates. I made the change in my install and I now actually like using that sight. I might post some screenies later so as to get the public opinion on this.

Learning how to read might help. It was stated everywhere that this is beta and crashes/bugs/lag is to be expected and yet somehow you didn't know this.

What's happening is that this is a beta of a new version, things are not optimized, bugs are not squashed and as a result you will have a shitload of crashes. The important bit is when those crashes occur. Give the devs as much information about the crash as you can so that when this version gets out of beta, there will be as few crashes as possible. Hint - "I get a crash like 5-10min into the game" is pretty useless in most cases.

Could you make the red dot in the red dot sight a bit smaller? It was already way too big in stock and now the sight is even smaller which makes it even worse. If the dot was maybe half the size it is right now, then there would be a reason for me to use that sight. Right now I can barely see my target behind the dot.

This is the first thing I tried. It doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it isn't related to bot ratio at all. It adds whatever number of bots is specified in the AI files and it always puts 10 in PLA/MEC and the rest in USMC.

I'm experiencing a weird issue with the new update. I don't know if it's caused by the mod at all, but I do know it started after the last update. Basically when I create a co-op game, it will always have 48 bots, 38 for USMC and 10 for MEC/PLA. This isn't affected by the co-op game settings at all. Did I screw something up or could it be caused by the mod?

Neither is going to happen. Do you have any idea how difficult it is? If it was doable, it'd be done my now. I guess it's somehow possible, but I don't want to know how complex the code behind that would be.

I have another question about the existence of a feature. In Bf2 you can only see people and vehicles from a short distance. Long range sniping is impossible. Have you fixed that? At least some 2k through a scope seems like a must-have for "Tian Shan Mountain Range".

I would like to know one thing about the next release - will adding different sights, the suppressor, GLs etc change the weapon stats like accuracy? I don't suppose it would be right to ask you to do that if you don't have it planned already, seeing how close you are to 0.3, but I would be so happy if you added that in the game. It would be nice to have a reason not to attach a suppressor. Right now using it has no downsides. Also, the Elcan and Acog sights are in most cases useless, considering the weapons aren't accurate enough to benefit from them in the first place.

I have to admire how the devs manage to remain calm reading this, or at least not reply if they can't. You're asking them to add a fictional weapon from a crappy game when they are so close to release that they're obviously not going to add any more weapons that they hadn't already planned. I do have to admit that I would like the MGs to have a bit more accuracy, though. At least the first couple of shots should be very accurate, because that would make people use MGs more similar to how they're used in real life.

I'm a bit late on this, but aiming like that makes sense if the sight is adjusted for some distance, meaning that for shorter distances you'd actually have to aim below the target if the sight was lined up. However that is a bit overdone there, I believe, unless the sight is adjusted for several hundred meters, which would not make sense for an SMG.

Note that I haven't tested this, it might crash your game instead, but I think it should work:
Go to the BF2 install folder, then mods/ap/objects. Open (or extract, depends on your software) weapons_server, then navigate to Weapons\handheld. You will see lots of folders with weapon names. Open any sniper, for example rurif_dragunov_sd (silenced SVDs, except for the version without scope). Inside it will be 4 files, 2 tweak and 2 con files. Open either tweak file and scroll down to this line:
rem ---BeginComp:PostProcess ---
delete this and everything until this line:
rem ---EndComp ---
Note that the latter line is used often in the file. That should be a total of 4 lines deleted. Now you just have to do that for EVERY sniper tweak file in the zip file, except for the iron sight versions. The one mentioned above is just an example. I found a total of 15 sniper tweak files, however there are other weapons besides snipers that use this shader, I think.
