Description

Here's my "artwork entry", an unfinished mod. Please see the video:

I wanted to join in on the action with the #SERIOUSMOD contest on moddb.com. Unfortunately, I got the game near the end of the Steam Summer Sale, and was finally free to start around the 14th, so I had a week to get SERIOUS. I thought I could crank out a Campaign mod of all things... Whoops.

Anyway, I'm a total newbie to Serious Sam, this being my first game, and an accidental find at that. I tried to do some research so I could create a campaign mod that fit into the current Serious Sam universe. That led me to the mostly neglected item, the Artifact of Amon-Ra. I found out there's a certain unsolved contradiction in the Serious Sam universe. In Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, there's an official DLC called Legend of the Beast. It brings you back to the First Encounter, before you find the Artifact. The change it makes... The Artifact is not in the temple as you see in Bogus Detour! Sam has to continue searching for it, and finds it in the hands of a legendary Khnum.

And so that gave me the perfect opportunity to come up with a story that fills in the missing details, of how Sam found the Artifact, but would lose it to make way for the "Legend of the Beast". And simply having Sam crash his space ship seemed way too lame. -_-

Anyway, I did some research online and found out Sam's adventures take him loosely through some historical sites. So I wanted to find a city that would fit this story... and lo and behold I came across Thonis-Heracleion. A long lost Egyptian city that nearly mysteriously vanished from history, rediscovered in 2000. It's quite near to Alexandria, and was an important port city of its time... including its great Temple. A temple to Amon-Ra. The pieces are on my side... Too bad time isn't. For this contest anyway.

Music is not mine, but a placeholder while I was making it. By Bucketheadland, album Chart. Awesome music.
