We'll have to look into first, how much work is actually required to port the mod to Remastered. I haven't looked into the process yet.

Interesting development:

Our old forum for the mod is back online after 5 years gone: Thegamingunion.co.uk

Come enjoy a trip down memory lane.

It sounds like you are not playing the capture mode. If you start a game in the capture mode, there will be a number of capture points around the map. Fly one or more ships into the control zone of the point to capture it. Each point gives different rewards, with station points allowing you to summon cap ship reinforcements via jump point.

I wouldn't say abandoned, but as this modification is made by only a few people on a voluntary basis, motivation and inspiration can come and go sporadically, leading to sometimes long periods of inactivity.

I myself haven't really kept up with the mod lately, but as you can see, I still take a look back from time to time.

As for the others, I haven't heard from them since July. Guess I have to be patient as well as you.

I'd recommend dropping all stars from the background texture and use the HW2 style of adding stars after the fact via coordinates. I find it gives a better looking result, not to mention a lower polygon count on the background.

Apart from the stars, it looks great.

At some point, we plan on adding the Centauri to the mod, but not before we get a stable 1.0 release out with Earth Alliance and Minbari.

Not in every case. They were the first race, willing to sell weapons tech to the humans back during the Earth / Minbari war.

The repository is continuously updated. The newest revision as of writing this is 913, so if you have it updated to that version, you have access to everything the rest of us can see as well.

Thank you for the kind words. It help the motivation to hear first hand that the fans enjoy what we've created.

Thanks. Looks like we got it. As you may be able to tell from the news post above, Zeelich is back, and we have some actual progress for the first time in ages.

Wow. That is good news. Don't know how I missed that one. Admittedly I haven't checked that forum too often either lately, but I did go through to check for everything I hadn't read not long ago. Guess I completely forgot to check that subforum.

Wow, I didn't know you were still around, max. That's a good start. I'd love to see it with bump maps as well.

I wish there was. I find myself checking this page less and less frequently lately. Alone, I just can't find the motivation to work on the mod, since I mainly do the maps and backgrounds. What we're really missing is a coder to finish the work CnlPepper started, and a texture artist to texture our remaining missing models to the same standard as what is found in the mod already. Unfortunately, I myself run into a wall when trying to work with the upgraded shaders, and I just can't find the correct settings to make the models work when importing them ingame, and so I've given up for now.

I still check back here once in a while, so if anyone is interested in lifting the burden, they can get in touch by PM here. Just don't expect a swift response from me. As I mentioned, I don't check back here as often lately.

What can you do for the mod? The main things missing at this point are a few minbari models, plus proper research trees and then balancing.

Then you'll have to upgrade your graphics. If you're on a laptop, you're out of luck. You'll have to play it on another computer. Sorry.

Sounds right. From that, it looks like your graphics card isn't capable of fully supporting the advanced shaders the mod uses. You could maybe try updating your graphics card drivers and see if that makes a difference. Alternatively, try deleting the shaders folder entirely. It'll remove a lot of the effects, but lowers the mod requirements to be the same as HW2, so if you can run the unmodded game, you should be able to run the mod in that state.

Wrong log. The one you want is called hw2.log, not errorlog.txt,

The Datascr folder is only included as a modder's resource. The files aren't used by the game, so it doesn't have to be placed anywhere.

As for your crash, check the hw2.log file, it should contain a clue to the problem. For now, the mod is optimized for use with the custom Capture gametype, so make sure you're choosing that.

Also, Hiigarans and Vaygr are still ingame for testing purposes. Even if they aren't balanced to the new sides, they still behave like they should, something that the new sides don't yet, since they aren't balanced or research enabled yet.

Nice video. It would be cool if you included a link to our moddb page in the description, but I don't mind that you made the video. Feel free to make more if you want.

Personally I say that as long as they aren't contradicting the main games, they stay canon, sort of like the Star Wars EU.

The mod will probably not be uploaded as a single file release until such time as we can reach a v1.0 status, so it'll be basically forever before that happens, but if you follow the directions you can get in the download section here, you can connect to the development SVN repository, which contains the latest version of the mod as it exists now. That's the best I can offer you unless someone steps forward to fill the shoes of CnlPepper and get the remaining ships finished.

Not entirely dead, as I'm still hanging around and keeping an eye on things, but unless CnlPepper comes back or we can enlist the aid of a similarly skilled person, I wouldn't expect new content any time soon.

This comments section isn't really the best place for diagnosing mod problems. I suggest you create a thread about it on the RelicNews forum or post in our existing thread there:

Updates are not likely for the foreseeable future, unless CnlPepper comes back to the Homeworld 2 modding scene. He's been the drive behind the mod for a long time up until we went on stand-by. We'd need someone else who can create the models we don't have done yet to continue.

TonViper
TonViper @ Babylon 5: War Without End

Well, I wouldn't say dead. Indefinite hiatus is more like it, but at this point it may as well be the same. I just hope CnlPepper finds the time and energy to come back and work on the mod again at some point, since he's the one who knows best how to work with the shaders he created, and he makes some awesome models.

Until that happens, I'll still be here, keeping an eye on things.

TonViper @ Development Version Download Instructions

@mercboy: The thing with the username and password, IIRC you either leave both fields blank, or you fill out both fields with anonymous or something; it's a default SVN setting in any case. The whole username/password thing is to keep track of users who are allowed to upload new or changed files to the SVN.

@SchrankRitter: This is by far the easiest method of making sure everyone can get access to the latest version we have available without having to upload the entire mod each time something is changed. The plan has always been to also create a single file download for the mod once the two main playable sides are complete.

@prestont: Last I checked, 5 minutes ago, the SVN server was working fine, so if you're getting a server not found error, you must have mistyped something.

All things considered, they DID start work on DN4ever quite a while before the Source engine was even released with Half-Life 2, so they've still taken longer to Make Duke Nukem than Black Mesa, even if Black Mesa takes a few more years to release.

Not really. Unless you imagine he's inside the Babylon 5 station, or serving as crew on one of the EA ships. We never got to the point of replacing the HW2 voices, but if you know someone who could do voice work in HW2, (and by that I mean actually getting the voices ingame, not just speaking into a microphone) I'd be happy to get it integrated into the mod.
