Could you please do a compatible version with some of the more popular mods such as Rt56 and Fuhrerreich? I really dislike the short and and simple names and as such I am only playing Kaiserreich because of that version lol.

Mate, there are other mods that already do those, check out Steamcommunity.com. Infact, they have a plane reskin as well with unique models for individual planes, but only for selected countries.

I have not looked into tanks, but theoritically it should be possible. I am planning to add planes for every single country tag in the game, Bhutan, Liberia etc. so it will take some time though.

Some icons and names are added by Road to 56 Steamcommunity.com and various other mods such as Icons for planes Steamcommunity.com so I don't think I'll be doing that.

No, modding Total War games since Empire is largely similar. You can use the tutorial above, or if you cannot follow it here is visual tutorial by the same person (who works on this mod as well) Youtube.com

Well if you only want to do a recolour you can extract the models via PFM and change the textures using editors such as GIMP or Photoshop.
