It is actually the ending. The point was to create a sequel not too long after, but I jumped into other very big projects. At the moment I'm thinking of doing a CS with the models for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs instead :) And experiment with the Oculus Rift.
Those times I've encountered people with the same problem is because they have full-conversions who are overwriting the files I'm calling in the game code to combine the hammer and chipper.
Do you have or had any full-conversions previously installed?
Thanks for the bug-report! Any specific areas where you think the shadow is too deep, or mainly in the beginning when you're without a lantern?

StartMap="H-Block_2.map"
Straight into your .cfg file and replace whatever file line that lies there that begins with "StartMap...". It will 100 % work if your not missing some of my map files.
I have noticed some Custom Stories interfearing with my MoD, and apparently it's less things I am able to do since some CS overwrite original game source code.
Since your at the part where you need to fix the machine for the elevator, you can change your .cfg file, Startmap to "H-Block_2.map" and you will start just where the elevator takes off.
No other custom stories? And you are running our 1.2 version?
Do you have Justine installed? Have you installed any full-conversions?
Yes, 1.2 is required. The only thing is that I have had problems before with conversions that have overwritten some of the original source code in Amnesia, thus causing me a bit of a headache. If it's possible (and if you want to), you should try my mod on another computer. Then I think you won't have any of the bugs you mentioned.

Thanks a lot! :-) We used various soundtracks that we found on Youtube, and that we would be allowed to use if we credited them properly. We have written the names of the composers in the credits, and if you wanna find them instantly, open the "extra_english.lang" in notepad in the Abomination-folder and scroll down.
My apologies, my misspelling on an earlier version. The correct name is "F-Block.map". I'm very glad you liked it :) and as I said before, my deepest apology!
Since this seems to be a rare but serious problem, go to your .cfg file and change the "Startmap" to "F-Huset.map" and you will start behind the gates with no lantern (but you won't need it though).
I will to look for a general fix to this problem.
Try reloading the map, by loading the autosave from where you are starting in the H-Block if that's possible. Are you running version 1.2, and do you have Justine installed? (A temporary fix: Go to your cfg file and change Startmap to H-Block_2 to start at the map where elevator takes you, you won't need a lantern).

The grunt opened a door, which leads to a corridor. In the end of the corridor is a carpet - which you can drag aside :) If you came that far, lit the fireplace and then there is a puzzle...

- The Hammer-Chipper bug works on most peoples' computers, but I have had a few reports about that, and I agree with you, it has something to do what FG has done about it.
- The funny thing about this is that when I entered HPL, there were a table under all those flying objects, but that will still be fixed in v.1.3
- If you want to know how to use the key, I refer to Twitch.tv at 56:30 and forward.
We put quite a lot of effort into the atmosphere and musical parts, we I'm glad you liked it :)

Thanks for giving your honest opinion. We knew when we implemented both the alternative music and voice acting that not everyone would enjoy and like it. What we wanted was to make something very different from the mainstream of Custom Stories coming out atm, with all the jumpscares and minimum story.
But for being our first CS, we are still happy, and even though new ideas might not always be good, I think they are needed right now at the Custom Story Dev. Section.
