Mortal Online

stjohnj Blog

Currently I have been playing Mortal Online which is an awesome MMO game with tons of features. The graphics aren't stellar but the games options for materials and crafting is insane as well as the skill sets you can train for your character.A person can chop trees, mine, butcher, tame, breed, extract and many other jobs available.
Another great feature of the game is the skills that are trainable. There is somewhere around 800 books that are available to read for skills that offer various bonuses. Mortal Online possesses no level system but rather a skill and attribute system. A skill that is used consistently gives the player a higher skill level.
One thing I should mention is that the game is free to play but offers a subscription option. Like Star Wars The Old Republic you won't have access to certain features if you are not subscribed. Such as having your skills cap at 60 points instead of 100.
Guild features are also present in the game which also pvp and war with guilds. You can build a palisade and a keep as stronghold points along with towers to spread control. Many guilds can fight for domination or be dominated, such as life. A huge problem with the game is that the textures load really slow and sometimes won't show players in a mannerly fashion and you'll be killed by ghosts!
If you are looking for a hardcore MMO with lots of options and builds that still has a lot to learn then this game is perfect. There are still many formulas in the game that haven't been tested so there is room for discovery. I urge you to at least pick up the free version and give it a try

Darkness Within: Dark Lineage 2

stjohnj Blog

What an awesome and atmospheric game. This game is definitely a top tier game on Desura and deserves it's AAA status. It comprises of many ambient sounds as well as an atmosphere of horror. While not being an action platform game or even a survival game like Amnesia it is still riveting.
I desperately wanted to unravel the story and got ever more frightened of the actual answers to those questions as I progressed. It's like spiraling into doom or an abyss and you have no way to stop it. Never mind the graphics aren't have bad and even the voice overs are pretty decent. There are also many interactive characters that add to the story. Even environmental insects that cause severe delirium when they bite you.
All in all I recommend this to anyone that wants a more explorative version of Amnesia without the crazy monsters trying to maul you. It also poses a better story and is based of off works by H.P. Lovecraft. The opening quote says "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." So in conclusion this thriller game is a wonderful piece of art not just a game!

Into the Dead

stjohnj Blog

Just got Into the Dark to work and am currently playing level 5 now! It starts off with a video of Night of the Living Dead. Then the continues to assault me with zombie prostitutes that more than just my money! It also seems there is some nudity video in here as well where a girls top comes off .
I have to say the strongest point of this game is definitely the humor. If you love a game that takes humor from many other games and movies/shows this game is perfect for you!

Into the Comedy Club

stjohnj Blog

I have been playing Into the Dark and it has way more comedy that I had ever imagined. It goes from citing Mcgyver quotes to Night of the Living Dead. Talk about nostalgia ! From Nazi zombies to killer zombie whores this game has it.
Most enjoyably though are the hilarious weapons to kill things with. Literally I killed a zombie with a business card and an instruction manual! Nevermind Ivan has left behind some snooty posters with tips on them. There is also several mentions to Robert Fleichers Soylent Green. I'll keep this blog updated as I progress through the game.

Into the Dark

So my next game on the list to play is "Into the Dark" which seems like a fairly fun horror type game. It's made by HomeGrown Games which they say this game also contains a lot of humour in it as well. I look forward to testing out this game and seeing what it has in store.
From what I have also been reading the game was high in RAM consumption but they have promised that this new version is a lot better. Another thing to note is that the Desura version has extra level ! :) So I'm definitely getting it on here to get the full experience.

Enola

I currently finished Enola developed by the Domaginarium. It was very good with challenging puzzles in it and an errie atmosphere as well. I really love playing and testing these Indie game. I can only hope these games have very good full releases and see much success.
I am not sure what game I will do next but it is definitely going to be another horror game since I love them. There are some videos posted of glitches and one about the church. If anyone has any trouble with the game just PM me and I will be glad to assist.
