Start Episode 3

Inside a great hall, around three tables sits a lot of farmers and other people. Woolsey, and Team Shepard sit at the head table with the leaders of the Planetary Coalition. They are talking amongst themselves. Some drinks are brought out and handed around by different people. The leader of the Coalition stands, and raises his cup.
“To our friends from Atlantis. You have brought a new level of security and piece to our galaxy by pushing back the wraith. I hope the friendship of my people and the rest of this coalition will be enough thanks...”
“Here, here” the crowd cheers.
The team takes a drink from the cups, and then Shepard starts to gag and gasps for air. He falls to the ground. Mckay and Woolsey follow closely behind. After this Ronan draws his gun and aims it out into the crowd. They scream as Teyla reaches John. She looks up in horror. “He's dead..”
Ronan looks down at her as if the world was ending.

Twelve hours earlier

Shepard is down in the training room and shooting range, briefing the new arrivals about wraith weapons.
“Ok this is your standard wraith stunner pistol. Works very much like a normal 9mil. Squeeze the handle and it'll blast a direction stun blast capable of taking down your average person for a small period of time.”
He shoot Major Lorne in the leg. Lorne falls to his knees. He then gives the pistol to one of the lieutenants, who aims down range.
“Ok all at once. Pick up the weapon and aim at your target, and fire”
Several shots echo down range.
“Ok hold your fire.”
He presses a button and the sheets move forward, revealing damage to paper where the shots hit. They are replaced and sent back down range.
“Good your all doing well. Now for the Wraith Assault Stunner. All though this is a less portable weapon, compared to the pistol, it is a more heavy duty weapon, capable of knocking people out for longer periods of time.” He aims it at Major Lorne, and shoots. Lorne is knocked out, but otherwise unharmed. “Ok pick up the stunner, aim, and fire”
More shots echo down range, this time from the larger weapons.
An alarm goes off
“Hold your fire, hold your fire”
His radio crackles to life, “Colonel Shepard this is the control room. You are required in the conference room”
“Ok I'll be there in a second” He turns to the group. “Major Lorne. Can you take over please, Give them a run down on wraith grenades and other tactics they've used against us.” He smiles at Lorne who struggles to his feet
“Sure but next time I stun you”
Shepard smiles and runs out of the room.

Up in the conference room Shepard meets the rest of his teem. Woolsey is sitting at one end, with there guest to the left. Next to him is Teyla with Ronan and Mckay sitting on the other side.
“Colonel, nice of you to join us. This is Myrus. He's the one who helped me find you last year with your encounter with the Planetary Coalition. He's here to invite us to a formal dinner. Where we will formally join the Coalition as its military representative.”
“Your time was invited specifically because of the wrong doings against you. I organised this to try and built trust been us. If this alliance can be formalised then we both benefit.” Myrus adds
Shepard looks at Woolsey and around the table. “So, when is it”
“Tonight, on Belkan. Another who has recently joined our Coalition.”
“Ok, we'll be there. Do you want us to bring anything?”
“No, just come ready for some fun. After all this is a celebration. “ Myrus looks over to Woolsey. “I must be getting back, so I can let them know your coming” They stand and walk out. Shepard looks concerned. Something doesn't seem right.

The gate kwooshes. Team Shepard and Team Lorne are standing around the gate room. Both teams are fully geared up and ready to go. Lorne approaches Shepard.
“Sir, where's Woolsey. You assigned us as his protection detail.”
“He'll be here in a minute. He wants us to get there early so that was can do some mingling”
“Sounds like fun” Lorne laughs and looks around “You got to be kidding me...”
Woolsey is standing on the steps, in his full tuxedo, clean shoes “Ok, are we all ready to go?”
“Yes sir, but I don't think that's appropriate attire to wear. It might be a formal dinner but its on a farming world. You shoes will get ruined, not to mention the Tux.”
“Well this is how I'm going. I want to put a more friendly face on the expedition. After all we are more known for our mistakes than our accomplishments. That's also why were going early so I can meet with the Coalitions Council and partition for a seat for our own representative. If this is a UN of the stars, and we are the muscle, then that's only fair.”
“Sure, friendly face” Lorne says turning to look at Shepard before heading over to his team.
They walk through the gate, Team Shepard first, then Woolsey followed lastly by team Lorne.

Upon arrival they are greeted by Hendon, now there representative for the Coalition.
“Welcome to Belkan. Ah Teyla it has been to long. How are those flax seeds going we traded you?”
“We have grown many crops from them” She says
“And you must be Colonel Shepard”
“Yes, and this is Richard Woolsey, leader of Atlantis, as well as Major Lorne and his team...” They look over and either wave or nod “as well as Rodney Mckay and..”
“Ronan Dex, I remember your last visit.”
“Don't worry, it wont happen again” Teyla interrupts before more can be said
Woolsey looks semi-confused but continues without hinting at it to much, “We were told that the leaders of the Coalition will be meeting here tonight, and I was wondering if I could talk to them before this all starts”
“Sure, they are this way” Hendon gestures towards a building.
“I have a few friends here, would I be able to pay them a visit before the party tonight?” Teyla asks before the group disperses
Woolsey smiles “Sure, Shepard your team can have a look around, as long as your at the party before it begins”
“Sure thing” Shepard says looking at Teyla. Hendon leads the way with Woolsey and Team Lorne follow behind him. Team Shepard breaks up with Teyla heading off to one house and Ronan going to catch up with the Satedans there. Shepard and Mckay follow him to the Tavern.

They enter and Ronan heads up stairs. He quickly groups up with Solen Sincha, still telling the same old stories, of the wars of the Setedans against the Wraith.
“So there I was, last man left. A platoon of Wraith soldiers between me and the gate. I picked up my gun and I charged them....”
“Liar...” Roan yells “ It was half a platoon, and I shot a wraith dart down, killing half of them in the explosion” They both smile.
“Ronan, my old friend, its been a very long time. What brings you all the way from Atlantis?”
“That big formal dinner they're having tonight at the hall.”
“I never thought you'd be the type to go to that sort of thing”
“I'm not. But my friends are going, so I'm joining them...”

“Teyla Emmagan, so nice to see you.” Arja says opening the door
“Arja, how have things been?” Teyla smiles and they touch brows.
“Things have been hard. After the kulling you saved us from, with all the loss of life that day, it has been hard...” He pauses and looks off into space for a second “I heard that you are of child?”
“Yes. His name is Torren. He was born last year and is living happily with my people on New Athos.”
“Its nice to hear. Please would you join us for tea”
“I would love some tea...”

Hendon leads Woolsey to a large hall. Woolsey turns to Lorne “You can wait outside if you want”
“Yes sir” Lorne says and his team stand guard a the main front door.
Woolsey is shown in and he sees three long tables, two parallel to the side walls and on at the other end perpendicular to the other two. Sitting at this table is the three leaders. Woolsey walks down between the two longer tables. He recognises the one on the left, Dimas, but the other two he hasn't seen before.
“Thank you for seeing me at such short notice” Woolsey says as he gets closer to them.
“Mr Woolsey, thank you for joining us. This is Zulu and Geesha” Dimas says
“We hope there is no hard feeling about the trail last year” Geesha adds
“No, there isn't. That's why I'm here, so we can officially sign off on the treaty, making Atlantis the main military power of the Coalition.”
“Good. We welcome the contribution of the expedition to the Coalition.” Zulu smiles
“But we want a seat at the head of the council before we agree. We want to be able to vote on the actions taken. And it needs to be one of our military leaders that gets the job.” Woolsey comments
“We have a high council containing three people as leaders, to vote on issues of importance to us. We wont be able to change that to a four person system, just because you ask. This would put pressure on us to give all planets a seat and that would make decisions harder to make. We have a sort of forum where different people can air there issues but the head of that is always going to be three people. You have been given a seat in the forum so your side can be heard just like the others. But we cant give you a seat at the top” Zulu informs
“I see. Well if that's how you feel, I'll be leaving” Woolsey says and he turns around
“Wait” Geesha calls out. Woolsey stops
“We haven't finished explaining what role you will get. It is still one of importance. You will get a seat at the top of the security panel. The only group equal in power to our own” Dimas says
“The security panel is still below you, and must do what you tell it to, does it not?”
“Yes, but as the head of that board you get to decide how it is done.” Zulu continues
“Well, I guess that will have to do then” Woolsey says

The party begins with a huge feast. People from all over the galaxy have converged on the great hall and are celebrating the increased power of the alliance. Woolsey, and Team Shepard sit at the head table with the leaders of the Planetary Coalition. They are talking amongst themselves. Some drinks are brought out and handed around by different people. The leader of the Coalition stands, and raises his cup.

Ronan looks down at her as if the world was ending.

“Off-world activation” Chuck says raising the shield.
Zelenka walks over from the head office.
“Receiving Major Lornes IDC”
“Well lower the shield” Zelenka says, chuck already doing so
“We have a code one medical emergency. We need Keller and her team to the gate room immediately” Lornes voice comes over the radio
“Dr Keller to the control room please” Zelenka says into the City PA “Code one emergency”
Lorne comes through the gate dragging Colonel Shepard by the arm pits. Ronan follows carrying Woolsey and finally Teyla dragging Mckay.
“What's going on?” Zelenka says running down the stairs. Keller and her team enter from the side with three gurnies. They put one on each and wheel them out. Keller is checking there pulse and checking for signs of life.
“Ok they're all non-responsive, we need to get them under the scanner as fast as possible.” Keller says attending to Woolsey as they run out of the room.
“They were drinking a toast. To a better future and a stronger alliance between us and the Coalition. Then they all collapsed. We don't know why. But we need to find out. Zelenka, Teyla, Ronan, your with me. Were headed back there to find answers” Lorne says taking control of the situation.
“What about the others?” Teyla says wanting to wait for Kellers report on there condition
“No time, we need to head back before who ever organised this can escape.” Lorne says before looking up at Chuck. “Dial Belkan down, and keep the gate active, I want to make sure they cant escape.”
“Yes sir.” Chuck quickly dials the gate and it opens and they enter it.

Back on Belkan they are approached by the leaders of the Coalition.
“We are truly sorry for what happened to the others. We are starting an investigation into it now” Geesha says. She looks very concerned.
“We'll handle the investigation. We're going to need to talk to all those who knew that we were going to be there. And all those who had contact with the food” Lorne says sternly.
“Sure. Everyone has returned to there houses or remained in the hall.” Geesha says, as the team quickly heads in the general direction.

They enter the hall, whispers are abound. Rumours of this and that.
“Ok people listen up. We are going to find out who organised this, one way or another. If you know anything, this is your chance to come forward. If you don't and we find out you know something, then I wont be able to stop Ronan here from getting that information from you” Lorne yells over the top of everyone else
“Major, don't you think this is going a little far. We don't know what happened yet.” Teyla says grabbing Lornes arm as if to try and lead him off to the side
“Teyla. Our three highest leaders of Atlantis were poisoned. Someone here has to know something. And the sooner they tell us the sooner we will let them go.”
“But we cant keep...”
“We will do what ever is necessary to get the answers.” Lorne says looking at Zelenka. Zelenka looks worried, he's never seen Lorne like this before.

Teyla, Ronan and Lorne work there way round the room asking questions to different people.
Teyla approaches the lady who dropped of the drinks to Woolsey, Mckay and Shepard.
“So you gave them there drinks?” Teylas asks
“Yes. The three closest to the front when I got back”
“Did you notice anything different about them?”
“No, they all look the same when you handing out a hundred drinks an hour”
“Did you see anyone loitering around, anyone who looked suspicious?”
“Well, there was one guy, he was wearing a hooded cloak. I haven't seen him before and he looked kind of scary so I didn't even give him a drink.”

Ronan walks over to one of the people sitting at the end of a table
“Why are we being detained, we haven't done anything wrong?” A man says standing. Without blinking Ronan knocks him to the ground pull a knife and puts it to his neck.
“My best friend was poisoned, so I am not in the mood. You will answer the questions of I will bleed you dry”
The guy lays there “Alright, alright, what you want to know?”
“Did you hear anything before or during the party? Something that might of hinted that someone was going to poison Shepard?”
“No, not before the party, I was at home cleaning up. And during the party the band was about five feet away, we had to yell just to the person next to us, just so we could hear each other.”
“Anyone or thing look like it didn't belong?”
“Now you mention it, there was a guy. Standing over there (he points over towards where the drinks were being handed out) that I hadn't seen before. A skinny guy in a hooded robe thing. I haven't seen him before”
Ronan stands up and picks the guy up. Holding him above his head. “Can you see him in here anywhere?”
The guys shocked, but he looks around. “No I cant see him.”
Ronan lowers him back down to the ground

Lorne signal to Teyla and Ronan to come over.
“Ok from what I've gathered, there was one guy...” Lorne starts
“...wearing a hooded robe...” Teyla continues
“...standing over there (Ronan points to the spot the man indicated earlier)” Ronan finishes
“Nice to see we're on the same page.” Lorne says “Ok we need to go look for this guy. He cant of left the planet, we've got the gate locked down. And Zelenka is working on lifting any addresses dialled recently from the DHD.”
“We should split up and look for this person. He cant of gone far.” Ronan says, turning and leaving the building.
“Make sure your guns on Stun. Here take a stunner, if you see anyone fitting that description, stun them. We can work it out from there” Lorne says following close behind.
Outside they split up. Walking around asking they quickly pick up the sent. Ronans the first to spot the person. Who immediately turns and runs. Ronan gives chase, firing his gun trying to stun him. A few second later he turns a corner and Lornes there, Stunner raised. Lorne gets one shot off. It hits the person but they are unaffected. The hooded man jumps through a small market stall, grabs one of the support columns and spins. He hits Lorne from the side knocking him down. He quickly grabs Lornes stunner and stuns him. Ronan turns the corner, raises his gun and shoots, the person ducks it and stuns Ronan three times and he goes down. Teyla arrives just as the person disappears into the bush. She shoots her stunner but misses.

A few minutes later Lorne and Ronan are waking up.
“Who the hell was that?” Ronan says sitting up
“He was quick. And the stunner didn't effect him. I've never seen anything like that” Lorne says also sitting up.
Ronan looks at him “Are you sure you hit him?”
“Yeah, once right in the chest. Didn't even slow him down.”
“Maybe you shot yourself. He did take you down easily enough.”
“I'm sorry, I did the best I could.”
“Well its not good enough. It you were Shepard, he would of taken him down.”
“But I'm not...” they both pause. Ronan stands up, and marches into the main hall.

Ronan approaches Teyla. She's standing opposite the leaders, who are sitting at the head table.
“Ah Ronan, you're awake.” She says noticing him arriving
“Yeah no thanks to Lorne.” He says scoffing
“He is doing the best he can. With John gone he has to take over. Give him some time. I'm sure he'll prove himself”
“You know I'm standing right here” Lorne says, standing behind both of them.
“The person you were chasing. We have heard rumours that he has been camping in the bush, outside of town. I'm sure if you go...”
“I'll go” Ronan says, then he turns to Lorne “Alone...” and walks off.
Teyla looks at Lorne, “Don't worry about him. He'll come round to you once we catch Colonel Shepards attacker.”
Lorne waits for Ronan to leave, “Are you sure I'll hold out that long?”
“I believe, together, we can work through this and catch the person. If we work together” And she leaves, Lorne following.

Zelenka meets them outside. “I have the last 10 or so gate addresses lifted from the DHD. I'm going to head back to Atlantis and match them to locations in the database.”
“Be quick, and report back if you find anything” Lorne says.
“Well that's the thing. I have identified one of the addresses as a planet the replicators wiped out during there war with the Wraith.
“You don't think...?” Teyla says looking at Lorne.
“What?” Zelenka asks
“Head back to Atlantis doc, see if you can work out any of the other addresses”
“Ok?” Zelenka heads back to the gate and radios through. It deactivates and then he dials Atlantis and steps through. The gate shuts down then it dials in again.
“We need to go back into the hall” Teyla says turning and running back inside

“You dare let them into the Coalition. After what they did to my people?” Shianna yells, with a gun pointed at the three leaders. Lorne and Teyla both raise there P90s.
“Shianna you don't want to do this, we don't want to hurt you.” Teyla says
“For my people, they betrayed them. They forced me out of the Coalition when you joined. I will not bear the shame of allying myself with my peoples murderers.”
“We did not kill your people. And the Coalition didn't betray you.”
“Yes they did. And I got my revenge. I poisoned your leaders. And I will, if I have to, kill everyone on Atlantis until the debt is paid”
“Will that bring your people back? Will it make you happy?”
“It wont bring them back, but it will make me happy” she says pulling the trigger.
A stunner shot flies in past Teyla and into Shianna. She recoils under its effects and he gun hand raises as she desperately tried to shoot. Another stunner shot flies past hitting her, knocking her out. Teyla turns to see the source of the shots, its Shepard and Mckay standing at the door to the hall.
“John?” She says confused “But how?”
“Well, its a long story. We should restrain her first.” He replies
“Yes sir” Lorne says smiling, relieved. He moves forwards and pulls her hands behind her back and then puts zip ties around he wrists. Woolsey enters. “I should explain this. Earlier today...”

Ronan enters the bar and heads upstairs. Rodney and Shepard sit down at a table and a lady brings some drinks over to them.
“I'm sorry but we didn't order any drinks” Shepard says politely
“They're on the house” The lady says putting the cups down before hurrying away, passing a man wearing a hooded cloak.
“That was odd” Mckay says as Shepard picks up his cup. On the bottom is a note
“You are going to be poisoned tonight” Is all it says.
They look at each other confused. They stand up
“Thanks for the drinks” Shepard says as the both quickly head out of the Tavern over to the main hall. Shepard walks straight up to Woolsey.
“Do you think its a genuine threat?” He asks after Shepard quickly explains the situation.
“Not sure sir. There was a few unhappy people in the Coalition, enough to get that investigation last year. Not to mention us taking the military muscle job off the Genii. I don't think some of the people here are to happy with us being included.” Shepard responds
“Well then we need to call tonight off. Return to Atlantis and call the alliance off.”
“We cant do that. These people need our help, and our protection. And after all if we do, then the others have won. What we need to do is intercept the attack. Let us three only know about it. Well all take heavy sedatives a few minutes before the toast. Then when they think we're dead we get taken back to Atlantis for examination. Keller wakes us up, pumps the poison out of our stomachs, and presto, we've identified the person, or people, trying to kill us” Shepard suggests
“Ill go back to Atlantis, let Keller know, and grab the sedatives.” Rodney adds
“Ok, who do we tell?” Woolsey asks
“We need to keep this as close to our chest as possible. Well make it us three and Keller” Shepard says
“What about Teyla and Ronan?”
“Well they know what to do if something happens. And we wont really be dead. This way when the respond everyone will think that its real.”
Woolsey thinks about it for a second. “Ok, but be quick. We don't want to raise any suspicions.”

“...anyway we got poisoned, Keller fixed us up and here we are” Woolsey finishes
“Teyla, where Ronan?” Shepard says noticing he's not there, a second before he's grabbed in a bear hug and lifted up into the air “Wow, Chewie, there you are”
Ronan looks relieved, Shepard wasn't dead. In the background the gate sits inactive. The person in the hood approaches it and dials an address. He is just about to enter the gate when he looks back over his shoulder. The gates glow reflects of his face, lighting it up. He has one black eye one normal one. Its Ford.
