And it made me wonder: What should make this blog interesting, fun, cool, exciting? In other words: Why should you read this?

The answer came pretty easy. I'm a sound tech in Ignition-Point Entertainment and currently working on the epic fps space-shooter Eternal Silence (ES). So why not write about that? In this blog I'm going to give you a unique entry into the mind of a sound technician at work, along with samples of the effects/music I'm working on. Some of which has yet to be released.

Before the revelation of today I'll write a few words about myself. Strictly speaking my background for working as a sound tech isn't that professional. I've been playing music for my entire life, and participated in a few albums, but it's not until last year I really started to pick up the studio-approach. NoX told about the ES project and asked if I could help out. Since then I've spend a good amount of bucks on equipment (my local store knows me by name - not a good sign) and a hideous amount of hours on recording, editing, sampling, mixing... So far it's been really fun and we've recently released ES 3.5 with loads of more content on it's way. There's loads in store for you, so if you're unfamiliar with the game I honestly would recommend you getting started.

Now.. The revelation of this post regards the next update. Oni, one of our (brilliant) artists, is making a video for a trailer so we can spread the word with some fancy graphics and catchy storylines. So far the video is almost done and I need to cook something up for the sound-side of the vid. So I'll give you the first part of the music with the voice-over. Notice the three tones in the start - if you're familiar with ES you'll recognize them as the start of the title-menu music made by the previous sound tech Marc. I really like the originality made by true physical instruments, so actually I recorded these with a violin and added a few effects to give it the blurry-synth effect. You'll probably notice the music fading pretty abruptly at the end. But.. Guess you'll have to wait until the full trailer to hear the rest ;) Also, I just want to point out that the video isn't related to the trailer. I've inserted images from new featured maps in the 3.5 and 3.55 updates (to come).

Sick work! I like how this sounds, awesome that you recorded a violin for it rather than just using oscillation.
