A Stalker passing through the Zone suddenly stops ahead of
an Electric anomaly. While standing in the pouring rain a cold shiver passes up
his spine. To compound matters his flashlight suddenly flickers and dies. He
suddenly tenses upon seeing movement in his peripheral vision. As he stands
frozen in the sleeting rain he thinks to himself. "Now where did I put
those extra flashlight batteries?" His eyes dart from side to side as his
hands busy themselves with trying to fish out those extra batteries he bought
earlier from one of Sidorovich's contact traders. Suddenly he hears a deep
mumbling sound coming from his right. He can't make out the gibberish of the
words as the muffled sounds drifts closer and closer on the howling winds.
Suddenly a shadowy figure appears from behind a rustling bush. The unknown
stalker's fatigued mind tells him that one of the filthy criminal dogs known as
bandits have snuck up on him to steal his new found bubble artefact. Such a
rare artifact, that was given to him as a reward for helping the Scientists,
will NOT part easily from his tough hands. As he reaches to pull out his PB
silenced Makarov pistol he decides to put down the bandit with 2 successive
shots to the chest. His hands clearly remember all that training that was drilled
into him at basic training with the Russian Army. He fires 2 shots but realizes
that something is very wrong... The last
thing the former deserter turned stalker sees is the enraged Burer's Shockwave
attack race toward his inadequately protected body.
The Next morning: As Captain Vladimir Ivanovich Dumanovsky
patrols sector B-198 with his squad, he wonders what happened to the young
corporal Yezhov who deserted about 1 month and 3 weeks ago. As he and his squad
cautiously approach an Electric anomaly recorded by the Scientists in this area
he sees a glare of grey gun metal on the soaked ground. As he approaches he
sees that it is a standard Soviet PB / 6P9 silenced pistol from the former
USSR. He pays it no mind as such an outdated pistol is inferior to his MP-443
Russian built pistol. It is what he sees scattered around the discarded pistol
that makes him gasp in shock and horror. All around in a 5m radius are little
pieces of flesh sticking to what seems to have been a standard stalker sunrise
suit. As Captain Vladimir Ivanovich Dumanovsky stares grimly at the mutilated
scraps of a former human being, a stray thought crosses his mind. His eyes come
to rest on the light Blue eye held captive within the fragment of the skull
staring blankly at him. "Could this have been Corporal Yezhov?" No he
mutters under his breath, this poor basted was just one of the regular novice
Stalker that he has to deal with on a daily basis within the Zone. The Spetsnaz
Captain continues back to the protective fold of the military presence sent to
provide escort to the Scientists with them. From quite a distance away two
ungodly eyes protrude from the lip of a cave. As the Burer watches from his
sanctuary, the Military men set up camp to stay for the night so that the
scientists can continue studying the effects of the Electric anomaly. Tonight
his fellow brethren will descend upon these foolish humans like Wolves upon
lambs.
