It seems like you haven't read reviews for your own mod either, or at least glossed over the most critical ones. If you'll notice, a lot of people are saying they would rather have fewer added missions than a lot of threadbare ones. Quite a few are even at a loss as to why you would pump HCTM1 with so many missions that look and play the damn same, it makes that little sense. Again, it's YOU that decided to fill the mod with low-quality missions. I have no quarrel with community mappers who make maps just for the hell of it. On their own, they serve their purpose: for mappers to have fun making and playing in them and to develop their skills. As part of this mod, they take away from the cohesion of the campaign. They even take away from how good some of YOUR own missions are. I appreciated the hell out of new tank missions: something any COD2 campaign expansion sorely needed and B2F failed to deliver.

Now, I haven't read the HCTM2 Manual prior to this, but now that I have, it clears up nothing. Okay, there's a new 7-mission French campaign. But what's changed compared to the mission lineup in HCTM1? If I recall, there were French missions in there too. Have you added these new French missions on top of that, or do these replace them? Is the original mixed grab bag of community maps of varying quality still there? And have you addressed at all the flawed mission design that was present in HCTM1? As far as I've seen from the second manual, you've said you've "tightened up things". Not clear enough. I would have asked my first question anyway.

And you are apparently not upset. Sure, kamerad. That's why you allcaps'd at me with several exclamation points after I leveled criticism at the one aspect of your mod I really have a problem with. And your go-to counter has always been "you're not appreciating the effort, maaaaan!". Bro, you managed to re-code a game from what is practically PC gaming's teen years. No one can take that away from you. Your gameplay improvements, while a little excessive in the amount of toys it gives us, far surpass what Back2Fronts or any COD2 mod ever achieved. All I and others like me have been saying is that you could've at least tried to curate your map lineup. Community maps are always going to vary wildly in quality. But you made the ultimate decision in what to include in your mod. The factor here is not our demand, but your ambition.

You need to look at this more objectively, since you're clearly very in love with your baby and all the high praise from all the nostalgic people hungry for fresh COD2 content isn't helping. We all understand that you're just one guy, but goddamn you didn't HAVE to add the whole freaking war into the game all by your lonesome, at least not all in one sitting. I would rather a short campaign that has spent all the time in the world in the cooker than a whole suite of them in which you never know if you're going to play the same map again or if it's actually good this time. Honestly that sort of lootbox keep-your-fingers-crossed thing is what kept me playing through the HCTM1 campaign for so long.

Hell imagine if, instead of uploading a release with all the campaigns you wanted to add, you just uploaded a release with your gameplay features and added each campaign incrementally with each update. Every one of those campaigns would probably play as tightly as possible if not the same as the original ones. You'd be a goddamn legend among the modding community at large for your commitment to your product. But again if you didn't have the time, we don't really need more than a couple new missions. Back2Fronts had precious few ones and I still played through the campaign with it twice. You know why? Because although they had that homebrew community map feel, they were distinct. They were well-curated. And they added to the overall singleplayer campaign experience.

Please do not think that we who criticized the missions you've added are against this mod. Even the guy who was the most vocal about it in the reviews gave this mod a 7. That's how good the rest of it is. I was one of the ones who was hanging on your every word back in 2017. In the end even though I'm probably one of the biggest naysayers on here I still have a lot of faith in this mod. It's the closest thing we'll get to a COD2 remaster. You did what IW couldn't be ****** to do and that's to give new life to one of the games that gave *them* life. That type of passion is always admirable.

Hi, running into the same issue here. So the way I understand it is every option has to be changed in the .inis from now on? As in nothing can be changed in the in-game options or every mod-added change gets ******.
EDIT: Nvm I'm dumb, so I can change the options, but I have to get out of the game, set the .inis back to read-only, and then click play? Not sure when the game decides to tamper with the .ini files to its liking.

Dude "new missions" has been a key feature of your mod from the start. It was meant to ship with them. "New missions" implies new maps, and gameplay that at the very least somewhat emulates the action the base campaign had to offer. Failing that, it would have been better to just scrap the whole idea and just keep the revamped gameplay. It's a decent enough alternative to Back2Fronts anyway. But now that people are dismayed that a part of your product that you said was gonna be there from the start was lackluster, you're upset? It was your choice to keep those missions in, and if you knew then that they were subpar like you sound like you do now, then you should have expected a reaction like this. They're a slog to play through, and your mod is worse for it despite all the quality improvements and new toys to play with.

You made a conscious decision to put that in the feature list that subsequently attracted people like me. Moreover, this whole mod was your idea, so don't talk like you're being forced to develop this on pain of death. I didn't point a gun at you and ask you to make me a full COD 2 campaign from the ground up by your lonesome. All I did was express what I didn't like about the mod and ask if they were addressed at all. Sorry it's not the high praise you're so used to on here.

Haven't checked up on this mod in a while. My main gripe was same as many others' on here: that the new missions were of copy paste maps and seemed very empty. Almost played like MOHAA in that things only seemed to happen as you come upon a certain area, otherwise everything's pretty quiet. Quite antithetical to COD2's philosophy of combat erupting all around you at all times. You also usually had like 3 allies with you up against 2 enemy platoons, a la Bad Company. I certainly didn't envision the German invasion of Poland to kick off with one guy crossing a bridge and four or five guys tailing twelve feet behind him.

I understand that you're doing your best however. But have these issues been addressed at all?

Also, a version in which diamonds and prices remain untouched would be nice. Fantastic improvements in this mod, but sadly being able to buy everything from the off ruins sense of progression and reward...

Do you have any plans to create a drive-by feature wherein you can use weapons while inside vehicles? That was the main draw to the Far Cry remastered mod for me, which has since been taken down. It seems you've made all the changes that that guy missed too, such as more interesting dynamic world events.

Hi. So I tried reinstalling, and I tried running with settins/engine in entitylibrarypatchoverride deleted, plus with camera.xml fov turned up to 95. This leads to a CTD, even though GamerProfile.xml in My Games hasn't even been generated yet

I tried running the mod untampered, but the need to delete GamerProfile.xml again and again is still there. I'll try to run the game with just the settings folder deleted, but idk why just changing camera fov would cause crashes.

Mind you I wasn't using the mod's dunia.dll yet

It crashes a few seconds into the startup loading screen. Deleting my modified patch.dat and .fat lets me play the game, but I have to delete GamerProfile.xml in documents every time, which deletes my settings. Also lately my RealAfrica reshade stopped working. I'm running on dx9 at low-mid settings. Might just reinstall and see if that has any effect. I do appreciate you troubleshooting though.

Hi. Again thanks for sticking with me lol.

I did what you said and deleted the entire folder. I'm still getting CTDs. Any ideas? If you're stumped too I'll just try to reinstall and redo and report back lol.

Hi. There isn't a "GamerProfiles.xml" in the engines folder when I looked. There's only defaultengineconfig.xml, defaultgameconfig.xml, etc. in the settings folder within engines. Is this it?

Hey, I finally got it to pack right, so thanks for that

Unfortunately though it keeps crashing on me. When I delete the GamerProfile.xml thing it works again, but it deletes my video settings and deactivates my RealAfrica Sweetfx settings. Any way to prevent these crashes without having to reset settings?

Thanks for your help so far. So what I did was edit the xml files in the entitylibrarypatchoverride_converted folder, as well as some values in the list xml in notepad++.

When I repack it into .fcb, the resulting file is only 2 kb, and I don't think it really saved my settings. Plus, it makes me CTD at random. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Awesome, I wouldn't have known that the overall FOV was in another xml

But how would I repack them though? The Dunia Repack tool just turns it into a .dat and .fat file, not an .fcb.

Also, how am I supposed to repack the stuff I got from the .fcb back into .fcb? Sorry for so many noob questions lol, never modded Far Cry 2 this deeply before.

Fan-*******-tastic work mate. Always heartening to see people out their giving their love to this epitome of what Far Cry was supposed to be about.

Since you were able to change weapon sounds, can I do the same? I made a couple of gun sounds myself and would like to import them to my game :)

Will you be modding in strike craft and more dynamic combat (e.g. non-massive ships move around in fights instead of being sitting ducks)?

Hey idk if it's something wrong on my end, but upgrading to long-range jumps doesn't do anything. Ships still leapfrog from planet to planet to get to their destination.

Any plans for Dyson spheres and ringworlds in the future, if doable? Also the fighter movement for the rest of the ships to give them that good old Homeworld feel.

I do agree that Starbases are a bit OP. I sent two fleets numbering about 40 ships to kill an undefended pirate Starbase and they got decimated, with one of my capital ships escaping within an inch of its life.

All in all though I love what you're trying to do. The idea of adding some pleasant realism to this game that clearly didn't age too well is a noble pursuit in my opinion. Keep it up man.

Hi. Mirror's Edge throws me an error saying that DLCMaterials.upk and DLCMaterials_2.upk are in a weird place, and it promptly crashes on the desktop splash image. I moved them to CookedPC (overwriting my previous mods' files)and the crash still persists.
