Not at all! Our community presence isn't what it should be, but we're working on this every single day. We've never made a game before so we're trying our utmost best. The Sorrowvirus (Our upcoming single-player short story for Faceless) was originally going to be a Tech Demo, but it's now a full short-story for people to experience. It's currently in its final stages and we hope for it to be out soon so that we can return to working on multiplayer.

Thank you so much, Seaal! We're quite anxious about what people will think of The Sorrowvirus, it's a story that's loosely connected to the main game, but it serves to set-up one of the most important elements of Faceless, a substance known as The Sorrowvirus, and what it's capable of doing to monsters and humans.

In The Sorrowvirus, you take on the role of Wyatt Heyll, a young man who has been riddled with various cancers and diseases throughout his entire life, and he has been visiting Purgatory since he was six years old. This is his penultimate visit to Purgatory and one in which players have a direct influence on the outcome. (Four different endings.) - Each time you play the game, certain things will change. Wyatt's own guilt and doubt will print itself onto Purgatory, causing the dialogue to change and the threat level to increase. This leaves only the player's own willpower to save Wyatt by attaining the True Ending.

In many ways, The Sorrowvirus can be viewed as a "spin-off" from the main storyline that we will introduce in the multi-player, but the one thing we've always established from the beginning is that everything is connected.

The only thing I will confirm is that our new primary monster, the Soulrender, won't really make an appearance in The Sorrowvirus. But the secondary monsters, the Anomalies, will.

We're hard at work every day! The sole reason why it's taking so long is primarily due to the fact that we haven't created a video game before. This is why we sidetracked our efforts into creating a short-story instead, so that we could improve our skills and get something out there for you guys to play. Once The Sorrowvirus (our short story) is done, we will return to developing multiplayer. The other issue is due to difficulties with programming, and how tough it is to find another experienced programmer who is happy to join the team. Regardless, it will be done!

We had this pesky little bug involving an object that would cause a crash on our end if we ever interacted with it or closed the map, this led us to grow suspicious that we might not even be able to compile the map upon completion or that it may lead to crashes client-side when they try to close the short story. Ultimately, we copied everything over into a new map aside from this one actor and then re-assigned all the missing references (We're still in the process of fixing some references) so that we can progress forwards. If there's one thing this delay has done, that's definitely the improvement of the short story, both in gameplay, appearance and performance.

The multiplayer gamemode is a four-player co-op, we currently have no plans to focus on the implementation of a versus mode due to the difficulties we're facing with developing the core game. We hope that the tide turns one day so that we may focus on expanding the game with further modes.

That's correct, this game is no longer about the Slender Man. This is primarily for two reasons, one: we were given a Cease & Desist, so we couldn't continue with it, and two: I wanted us to proceed with my own creation instead.

Absolutely 0% Slenderman at all, this is due to a Cease & Desist we received a while back now, and I'm proud of what we've done since. We won't be revealing the main monster yet!

Hey, Rizz! Awesome to see you here, I really hope things are going well for you. ForbiddenDonut (Dillon) isn't working on the project anymore, unfortunately. He left during our time on the Source Engine to pursue other things. I sometimes chat with him every now and then but I haven't heard from him in a little while. We still have the original names for the train station and hospital maps (Hyde Street Station and Bear Valley Hospital) so that's a nice reminder of how things used to be. It's a lot different from the days when you were on the team, but I am proud of what has become so far.

The tech demo will be coming out pretty soon! It's playable from beginning to end right now, it just needs some fine tuning and optimising. The last thing we'd want to release is a buggy/slow demo for the first introduction to the Faceless universe.

Thank you! Means a lot, it's a very difficult thing making something this ambitious. (For us, anyway, this isn't exactly going to hold up to any AAA games, but at least it may be less buggy than some.)

Thank you for those who have been consistently patient with us, developing this game is hard and it isn't our intention to keep you waiting. We're happy to be both developing and publishing this game so that we do not have to adhere to an unfair time constraint set by a publisher that will result in a less than acceptable final build quality. This demo contains a separate story from the main game, but will still be loosely connected to the game as a whole.

It'll be inspired by the Slender Man, but aside from looking humanoid in nature, it'll be different. It has its own appearance, lore and origins that can all be explored. We look forward to revealing the Soulrender to everybody when the time is right!

I really appreciate your message, you've been with us for a while now! My only concern is that as time goes on, the expectation is either dramatically increased or decreased. Given that this is our first game, we're not promising anything amazing, but we are promising you our best. And hopefully to some, if not most, our best is amazing in their eyes. We'll continue to endeavor to improve the game post-launch too!

I've been terrible at keeping in touch with the community, the very people that will determine whether or not this game is a success or not, it's my duty to ensure I do right by you all, as well as doing right by myself.

As for the lore, you've seen nothing yet.

Hi KiiNG, that's correct. There are multiple reasons for this, but the most prevalent reason would be due to the fact that we received a Cease & Desist for the project a while back that ultimately forced us to change our monster, which we feel has worked out for the best. I apologise to you, and to anybody else who wanted a Slender Man game.

We appreciate the comment! But as mentioned in previous updates, Faceless hasn't been a Slenderman game since we transitioned to the UE4. This is for a number of reasons, but the most pressing reason was due to the fact that we received a Cease & Desist. This was when we decided to change the monster into our own original one, The Soulrender. (Of which it's appearance is currently being kept a secret!)

Yep, we're alive and kicking! Indie game development is a very difficult venture and it's different for every individual and for every team, so we make do with what we have, and we're doing our best with what we have. Rest assured, the game is coming together.

The team is effectively a skeleton crew, but we're aiming for a Q3 2016 release. This is not a confirmed release date, but one that we're hoping to achieve. At the end of the day, we won't release an unfinished product!
