I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!
Well, I learned zBrush in the meantime. I gave this mesh back some sharp edges and now am trying to bake this with a cage. It seems I have to bake all three parts seperately though.
I have a lot of other models I've been working on. It's great to be pumping out assets, but I'm under NDA and cannot show them here. My biggest problems remains baking and smoothing groups.
It's a big improvement. I've been looking into getting Zbrush myself as well. Gotta save up some money first.
Good job on this one.
Nice, coming on leaps and bounds fella.
Very nice! I can imagine baking and smooth groups being difficult and time consuming.
Last time I used Blender 2.5 it still didn't have smooth groups...
It's a lot to consider Booman. I wrote a workflow in the description of the next picture. Maybe it is helpful for you. I had to do things over and over, until I understood what I was doing :)
Smoothing Groups aren't as awesome hard as everybody thinks. Or maybe it was just me thinking that...
Basically, every surface that has more than a 75° angle to its neighbor belongs in a different smoothing group. To assign them, all you do in max is select the polygons and then the group number you want to set to them. Do that a few times and export as FBS with Smoothing Groups enabled.
Yes, this actually does help.
So once you assign the poly's to a smooth group, what exactly does it do?
