Looks like Square Enix are trying (or maybe) to develop a new Front Mission game. The game is being developed by Square Enix Japan along with former Armored Core producer Toshifumi Nabeshima.

Nabeshima previously worked with From Software, where he created Chromehounds for Sega and Armored Core V. Seeing what they are really "planning" now it looks worth for Front Mission fans to wait this new title.

"Time for raining down enemies hath come!"

Front Mission is a tactical turn based RPG started in Super Nintendo console, featuring robotic mech called "Wanderung Panzer" or well known as "Wanzer". Come with heavy customization of series of wanzers and weapon types, player are given chance to make and adapt to different enemies type and situations. Since then. the series keep growing and evolving from console to console while maintaining its own tradition: Turn Based Strategy game.

That experience may yet come in handy- while Front Mission started out as a science fiction saga, the newest entries, Front Mission Evolved (released in 2009) look more and more into the kind of mech action that defined Chromehounds and Armored Core, was developed by Double Helix. And the recent title got less praise also because of Armored Core-esque style which made it a different genre from its old tradition what it should be (Turn Based RPG).

As of right now, nothing more is known about this title. While it is tempting to think that it may be unveiled at E3, the best bet is probably TGS later this year. Stay tuned for more coverage.

Front Mission isn't really an SRPG traditionally , the second installment "Gun Hazard" is a sidescrolling shooter and "FM: Alternative" is a Third Person(?) RTS but that's understandable since those games were not released internationally and were exclusive only in Japan.

The cannon "Front Mission" is (The series set from 1st to 5th), the spin off not.

Gun Hazard was considered spin off because it took different story and genre even though under the name of "Front Mission" title.

Front Mission: Alternative is RTS genre

Front Mission Online for Playstation 2 is Third Person Shooter. Front Mission Evolved for PC/Playstation 3 is also in this genre.
