I'm European, and I like games - board games, card games, tabletops, and of course - the reason I'm here - Computer games :). 'Nuff said for now.
Cool to hear, we'd be happy to make an addition to our team :). As stated elsewhere (I think?), we hope to put up a public alpha version soonish. We're at a bit of a crossroads regarding how close to the DotA concept we want to stick, and how much to vary towards Mech-steering (more of a Bloodline-Champions style controls), so if you have preferences regarding that, you might want to consider checking out the closed release :P.
P.S. We've discussed (or at least I've thought about) alternate Game-Engines from time to time, using Spring is certainly (at least in part) partly due to circumstance. Probably we'll stay with that for now, but if there's sufficient reason (and impetus) to do so, we can certainly still switch.
Thanks, we mean to do so :).
In game! Bloody hell, that's impressive ...
So this is the next-gen A-10 ;) ? I certainly can go with this new warthog!
Sounds like you've been pretty busy - just the way I know you :D. I'm also digging what I hear - both on new features, and things your contemplating doing!
Looks very shiny (ie pretty) :). Landkreuzer, I'd also be interested in what regard "larger scale" you're thinking (I have sometimes thought in a similiar avenue maybe).
Hey dude - you still interested in joining the War Machines Dev Team (that works on Engines of War?). If so, drop me a line!
Posed, by the way - IndieDB was getting on my nerves saying "you have no media yet!" :P.
Hey, get yourself an image/ avatar :).
Starting to look pretty nice! Nice work Alter.
Oh yeah :) - Engine selection is now ingame rather than the lobby!
Is that an ingame shot O_o ? Also, looks like the Jet on the lower left is going to have the worse part of the outcome...
Ooh, new screenies, nice :). That Jet looks pretty bad-*** also!
Dude, what's up? I just wanted to write saying I've finally changed my Avatar to a better one (the bad-*** posed Knight you made for me way back - with the cool background you put together for the game-image).
Hey - bzgl.
Very nice Video Tutorial!
Nice to hear! We'll certainly be looking for playtesters sooner or later.
We have no dedicated AI coder at the moment, so AI is not planned yet - but would certainly be nice to have longer term.
I thought the pun was rather weak myself, to be honest :P.
I like !
Could you say what the pieces title is ? I'd be interested in using it, and since Kevin Macleod is so cool as to licence his music CC-by-share alike, that's be no sweat. But he has so much stuff I'd take pretty long till I find the right one :D.
This is a long shot, but if you've already had trouble with long term Engine support, and you intend to keep the game free anyway, have you considered going for one of the Opensource FPS Engines out there ?
ioquake 3 (built on idTech3) and Darkplaces come to mind as two high quality Engines (both with at least one sound game in active development).
After a bit of an odyseey, it looks like it :).
We're likely to be building our own GUI, and we're very much aware of issues the most widespread ones in Spring have (including eating fps). No guarantees, but we think we'll be able to keep it pretty slick for Engines.
Thanks for all the comments and interest :)!
@Vermillion, I'd not heard of that Engine till you just showed it, so we can hardly say it's been considered :P. Most of our team have come with some experience with the Spring Engine, so that gives us an inclination - but looking at that damn shiny video you linked, I'll definitely be checking out the Men of War Engine! (I thought you were kidding me at first with that name). Since our intention is to create a free/open source game, though whether or not the Engine is open source) might be the sticky point.
I reckon he means not running together - from wider to narrow at the "point". So more narrow from where it leaves it's "sheath" (the dark gray bit) - or more wider (thus leaving the last half/third of the barrel at same/ more similiar width all over.
Looks pretty cool, by the way :).
Heya Neddie - didn't see you're comment on me page till just now - chill on the map stuff, there's no hurry at the moment.
I might get back to you on heightmap changing, cause I'm not so happy with the way it is atm. Anyhows, thanks for the hello, and kind offer to help :).
P.S. Testing could also come in real helpful to be honest! (since for semi-decent playtesting we need like 4+ players...).
Very nice !
Hey! Thanks for all the encouragement :). Indeed, the textures are something we are hoping to go over before Release.
AI - no plans for the moment.
Thanks for pointing this out Profanity - indeed, as bob pointed out, I wasn't clear on this in the brief game description. I've clarified that now though :).
