Haha well, I like your story and 'Runeshift' is kinda nice. We might change it, some people say we have to change it, some say we have to keep it... We're discussing it atm, so we'll keep you guys updated! ;)

Actually, we're redoing the whole forest area, so we'll make sure the lighting is just fine :-)

Yes, it's a portal to the first city you'll encounter.
We did this to be able to unload the area you came from and load the city properly, mostly for performance reasons and without any wait time :)

There could be some errors while installing and there could be some problems with updating the game on Windows XP...
But if you keep this in mind and still want to try it, please do, the game should run fine and all tips/errors (specially from Windows XP users) are welcome and we will be glad to help you with them! :)

Yeah I do ;) Before you can update your graphics drivers, I need to know if you have an NVIDIA or ATI card? Have you already tried uninstalling + reinstalling the game?

The fact that you can enter and press Play inside the game (right?) means that something weird is going on... Because then, you should be able to enter the map after the 'Loading...' =/
Maybe uninstalling + reinstalling the game could help?
And thanks for your interest, really appreciate it! :D
I hope you're not going to be disappointed when you finally play the game... :P

Thanks, it was enough, now I know it's not your hardware ;)
One more question: do you run Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Because there seem to be some problems with UDK and Windows Vista sometimes that are above my capability of fixing things =/
And thank YOU for being so patient :)

Thanks! Could you please also give me the 'name' of your graphics card? Becuase that's also very important :)
If you don't know how to get that information, there's a program called HWInfo32 that shows you every piece of hardware in your machine.

Okay, so you got into the menu. That's a start. With 'Loading...' you mean you saw a forest in the background with white letters with Loading... on top of it? If so, that also means we're moving along.

2 questions:
1) Can you give me a detailed description of your PC please? Like this: CPU=..., graphics card=..., memory (RAM)=..., free HDD space=..., OS (version of Windows probably) = ... ?
2) Are you sure you set everything to FALSE in the Options? + set it to a low resolution like 800x600? :)

Well there's one way to do things:

1) Go to the Runeshit directory (where you installed the game)
2) Go to the folder 'Binaries'
3) Then go inside 'Win32'
4) Right-click 'UDK.exe' and click on 'make a shortcut'
5) Right-click on the shortcut you just made and choose 'Properties'
6) If you aren't already in the 'Shortcut' tab, click on it.
7) Change the 'Target' from '...\Binaries\UDK.exe' to
'...\Binaries\UDK.exe RUNESHITMENUalpha?Game=MyGame.Runeshit'
(... = the Runeshit directory (where you installed the game) and without the '')

8) Then ofcourse, double-click on the shortcut to start the game :)

Well, you could try closing down the .NET programs (which update the server) after launching the game, but your stats won't be updated then... So maybe you could try that and see if it changes anything.

Also, try setting everything to 'False' in the Options menu in the Runeshit Launcher (click File -> Options)

Thanks for the kind words!
As long as it doesn't put us in too much trouble, we're keeping the name.
Also, love your nickname/avatar! :p

About the title... This project started as a joke: we didn't like Runescape very much and didn't seem to understand why it was such a big hit, so now we're trying to make a better game. We might consider to change it, maybe some time later... ;)
