Reloaded - level building log [WIP]

I have set out to create a mod for the Crysis 1 game (PC version) using cryengine 2 and the SDK. Working title is reloaded and the plan is to have 2 parts that play on the same huge map but years apart and a demo level that will link the 2 parts storywise.

Part one: FarCry - Jack Carver. It will stick mostly to the original story however without Doyle. Valerie is going to be in the intro but not in the gameplay. The Trigens will be replaced by one type of Trigen redesigned from scratch along the lines of the mutants in the movie "I am Legend". Krieger Corp and the Mercenaries will stay in the story. The Player is going to be alone trying to make it out alive.

Demo level "Training" - Nano suit. In part one Lab Zero (located on the training level island) went into AI governed shutdown due to a problem with the Trigens, turning the whole underground facility into a tomb for the 100 plus personnel and scientists, trapping them with a few of the specimen they created. 8 or more years later a surveillance drone picks up an implant signal from one of the Trigens outside the lab. This incident brings remnants of the Krieger Corporation to send in some Mercenaries in the hope of retrieving something from Lab Zero speculating that there might now be a way in since the Trigen got out. Player is sent by another faction to infiltrate the lab and contain the Trigens. On the island is a North Korean special units training facility which is clueless about the existence of Lab Zero and what it contains. As they learn about the Lab and the threat the Trigens pose, they decide to seal off the islands with automated heavy fighting drones (along the lines of ED-209 from the movie Robocop). This leaves the player and the Mercs scrambling to get out alive.

Part two: Crysis - Nano suit. This part plays years later still. The archipelago has turned into a maybe "Stalker like"zone with automated patrol drones, roaming Trigens and Krieger Corp. Mercenaries. This is going to be the Crysis part - morphing the FarCry levels with the Crysis levels. JSOC, raptor team and the aliens are not part of this. Koreans might have small drone support teams on the islands. Player is alone and on a recon mission.

The game level will have 4 FarCry heightmaps which were the levels: training, carrier, fort, pier, archive, rebellion and boat in one 4098 terrain map. Assets will be from Crysis 1 and newly created ones like the blackhawk, hangglider etc. The game / levels will load as a MOD inside a Crysis 1 installation on PC. The Demo level comes out first, hopefully by April 2020.

I am going to create a one-level-game based on the training level from the original FarCry game. I started this project back in 2009 when I was living in India and abandoned it. The idea never left me though and after spending a few years in Australia I am now in Beograd and decided to have another go at this. I am going to document the work on this in detail and thought I should have a thread for the project here. The whole thing is a bit out of date since I will be using cryengine 2 but who knows - some folks might find it useful.
Last week I setup an ancient rig to get started and pulled the training level height map from the FarCry game to use as base terrain. The story is set 12 years after someone blew up Jacks boat and kicks off with a patrol drone locking in on a Trigen implant signal and then witnessing the annihilation of a ground patrol by this 'survivor'. Inside the mountain 'range' on that level is Kriegers 'lab zero' which went into automated AI governed shutdown 12 years ago because 'something' happened. The Trigen incident (transmitted by the drone via ancient satellite uplink for exactly this case) triggers the deployment of Krieger Corp Mercs to retrieve something from the lab since there 'might' be a way in now...
I want to have the nano suit so I will have to figure out who sent the player (preferably not a giant defense organization though). The patrol could be from the Korean army who might have a small base on the island for some years and who are unaware of the existence of the lab. With that I would have 4 factions (Trigens, Mercs, Army and Player) and a level split into outdoor recon and lab infiltration. Grand Finale could be the Koreans bringing in fighting drones to seal off the island for good after they realize what is going on. They would leave before activating the robot sentries and leave the Mercs and the Player scrambling to get out alive... Something like that. Clean and simple.
I will post at least once a week on the progress and hope that you enjoy this. Keep in mind that confidence is the feeling I have before I understand the situation.
