The catch is that AR3 team is not the same as the AR2 team and doesn't even have the AR2 team's permision to use their world for the mod.

The mod is sadly dead, you can read about it in the comments of the mod's profile, I'm releasing the work done for it though, so that someone else might make a ra2 mod a reality.
Here is the current situation: I, Soulreaver, left the team in the beginning of september 2005, due to educational obligations. I gave the team six months to make some progress with the mod, but unfortunately nothing happened in the last half a year and as I see it this mod is dead. I have decided to release whatever work was done for the project so someone else will be able to finish what we have started. The models, textures and some of the code can be downloaded from Mo.cncguild.net I will also contact the moddb staff to see if they would be willing to host the files as well.
I apologize to all the fans of this mod for not being able to finish this project and I would also like to thank you all for supporting this mod during its last year of activity.
Will you just port models from only war or make new ones to fit the empire at war engine's capabilities?
*deletes a particular comment with more than enough inapropriate words*
I don't even know what mod toaster is, so let's see what google says about it...
Well you can't have a big soviet rocket without CCCP on it :)
The classic fantasy settings are a bit cliche, but you can see the effort put into realisation of this project so the cliche settings can more or less be ignored. The graphics are one of the best i've seen for a mod and I hope the gameplay will reach the same quality. Should be fun riding a dragon :), anyway thumbs up from me.
It's been known for quite some time now that after this mod is completed they will make one for HL2.
Haha :)
So do you plan on adding new stuff or just cellshade the existing?
Post some pics in here and on the main site to let people know about your mod ;)
That is one of our goals yes, but because of the code limitations all of the things Red alert had might not be possible.
Yeah you are right, it is weird to have a delicate satelite dish on a machine like this, but realism was never a strong point of red alert 2 and i prefered staying true to the concept art tjframe made for the robot tank.
The models we show are final versions and will stay like this (unless alot of people complain, then we might consider changing them). The dish will stay, because there are also people that like it and it's imposible to please everyone in every aspect. I presume one dish like this won't ruin the red alert 2 experience of this mod for you ;)
That carpet meant to be a patch of dirt. Usually if people walk over grass for long enough the grass is gone and you get dirt. If it won't look ok ingame we might reconsider changing or removing it.
Yes, it's time for updates :)
Let me guess, the ingame menu will be pink like the moddb site today :)
Looks great, should bring out the she-modder from all of us :)
If i were you I'd reconsider making a LOTR based mod, since there are big companies like EA owning the rights and your mod might get sued if they will see it as a competition. Imagine working on somethnig for let's say a year and then having to cancel the project. It has happened before with that LOTR mod for Morrowind and Stalker.
Not even close to being dead. There are no updates, because we have nothing worth showing, but be asured that we are still working on the mod.
Our website is now nearing completion thanks to our webmaster Immoman :). We've got a working gallery just yesterday, but we still need a news system and a faq page.
It will take some more time for the mod to be finished, because there is still alot of work to be done, the plan is to release it in the second half of 2005 but i can't promise anything.
To make models like this you need a decent 3d modeling program (like maya, 3dsmax, blender...) and for skinning a decent paint program (like photoshop, paintshop pro, gimp...) of course in the end you also need talent and knowledge for using these programs effectivly.
Hello, I'm Soulreaver (don't mind the nickname i have here), leader of this mod, it's nice to see so many people watching this mod :) So to answer a few of your questions: the models don't take that long to make especially later when you get used of modeling it's rather easy to make them, most of them are already done but still have to be unwraped and skinned.
There is no release date for this mod at the moment, because we are not sure when we will be finished, but it certanly won't take years to be finished.
We also have our Ra2/3 mod for generals. We have no site or forum we are more or less underground.
Here are some of the models.
I'll try to get more renders but i have comp problems&stuff.
