I don't know if this has been mentioned yet (ether on here or on the official forums) but the action to use the flashlight with the crowbar seems to be broke/missing. The exact error message in the console:

**Activity ACT_VM_FLASHLIGHT_ON not found! (me_crowbar)**

Other than that, the game is just great. Obviously there are some kinks here and there but for the most part, I am killing/surviving zombies.

:)

As for the crowbar, I will simply play it like Doom 3 or early mod builds of NMRIH in the mean time. I was busy with school to do anything for Halloween but this game will do very well to fulfill the lack of haunting tonight.

Carry on!

Release Date:

Not sure if planned or coincidence...

Ether way (or both), its nice that Valve finally gave the greenlight to get this thing out just in time for Halloween! ^_^ Don't know why I feel like something special is supposed to happen.

Edit:
Greenlight... man that was a long time ago.

Random thought:

Will there be any circumstances that the National Guard soldiers will use grenades? Such as a last-ditch, undead crowd control weapon or it's use traditional combat.

Just wondering, is Source SDK 2013 a similar build to the CS:GO engine?

So I had a friend of mine play this mod and noticed that whenever he comes across a box a ammo, he just picks it up. Now this is something that most of us NMRIH players do as we are stocking up in hopes for finding the firearm that the munitions is used for. But for my friend, like most newbies, that is something that doesn't really cross them. Instead, he believed each box represented a different amount of bullets that is universal ie. large box (Remington box) = large amount of ammo. Despite telling him that this game is very realistic (also failing in implying that he was picking up the wrong ammo), he found out the hard way that not all ammunition is the same. Unfortunately, this did turned him away from the mod (figures, got spoiled by shooters)but it did get me thinking:

When the Steam version is released, how do you get new players to ID the different types of ammo in the game (with ease)?

But I guess that will fall into the more broader and possibly already addressed topic of: How do you guys plan on getting new players accustomed with the game in general?

That reminds me, what happen to that RE map that was supposedly gonna be released as a add on? (Or am I mistaken? It was a fan made one after all but I do remember being highlighted in the past)

On the topic of NPCs, now that I think of it, if you guys decided to add (live) police/SWAT officers, they too should be susceptible to being ether friendly or hostile to the players in a similar vain to the NG troops. This can go for all human NPCs as everyone is essentially cut off from any support and, unlike (most) players, don't exactly trust each other.

Hell, these other NPCs, civilians, law enforcement, criminals... all could run off the NG programing with some tweeks. At least in how they are encountered by the player... and each other.

After reading Riley's comment about why you guys chose the CZ858, I started to wonder if you guys have considered to add more firearms based around the concept of civilian gun ownership and the related regulations?

i.e. guns with reduced magazine size, clones of military-grade weapons with lower/semi-auto fire and chambers a lesser cartridge etc.

"Sound>Voice>National_Guard"

I was just saying they (The National Guard) sound inconsistaint or rather what I mean lacking urgency in some of the lines because I was trying to imagine what would they sound like if they were in combat or getting overrun. Im sure that they wouldn't sound somewhat calm when in those situations but I guess that what happens when I try to examine bits an unrelesed feature.

Hey Maxx, out of curiousity I wanted to see just how many lines where recorded for the ammo check when I came across a file relating to "a planned feature". I got a couple of questions:

1: Is this file and its contents a left over from the original (2005/2011ish) rendition of this mod?

2: If not, are these files place holders untill you can get another recording of the lines after testing?

Now I bring this up because I took a listen and the lines seem pretty inconstant with the emotionaly charged lines that were made for the survivors as well as the theme of the mod. Almost as if "they" were treating this as an exercise.

If you still don't know which file I am talking about, two letters: NG

Regardless, I would want to be their friend and not enemy.

Keep em'! This will serve both as a vista and a sort of sign of progress for the player as they comtemplate the journey ahead.

The buildings themselves in my opinon are also iconic, a symbol, a physical manifestation of how resilent this foul system is. It may have be been knocked down, it may have been rebuilt, new additons were implemented, but the overall structure remains the same.

Definetly something that will not be out of place in this mod.

Now for those of you who insist on playing solo in this mod for what ever reason, you can try the following:

bind <insert unused key here> "sv_cheats 1;sv_zombie_health 100;sv_wave_cooldown 60;sv_zombie_death_ragdoll_chance 9999.0;sv_barricade_health 1000"

Press the key whenever you start a game and have spawned.

Reducing the zombie health will make the maps more manageable but the unaltered damage, infection rates, runner spawn chances, and lack of supplies still makes it challenging.

Increasing the cooldown time makes it easer to scavenge for supplies and perpare for the next wave in Survival Mode, that is if you can kill ALL of the zombies beforehand. If not, the barricades will last a bit longer to help you endure the assault. But don't think for a second that you will win that easy...

And lastly, as a personal preference, I made it so that you MUST kill them with a clean shot or blow to the head or else, you will look like one of those characters in the beginning of the next Romero movie. (That value does work, I had thirty (30) zombies grouped up, mowed them all down with a SMG, and only five were killed.)

Anyway, MP is still fun just if you don't want to jump into a game or have connection issues but still want to play in hell, there you go.

Hey guys, 1.05 is awesome. Im loving the new maps as well as some of the alterations to existing ones. The audible ammo checking is supurb and kudos for the guy who has to count every single number for this feature to work. One thing though i found a bit "problemmatic" (I am pretty sure that is NOT how you spell it...) is when you check the ammo for the hammer by holding the reload button. It is working properly but your character is referring to the fact that there is always a round left in the "magizine". May I suggest two things you can chose from to rectify this:

1: Rework how ammo is handled for the hammer so that the amount of boards you have also count as "bullets" in the weapon itself which also means additional lines for the VO to say something like "I got plenty of boards left..." or something along that.

2: Disable the audible ammo check for the hammer and have the counter display exactly how many boards are in your inventory.

Besides that, the mod is looking good and it is just gonna get better.
Good Work!

Realization: the zone system may do away for the need to have higher infection chances but I am just trying to figure out a way that a pre-wave respawn can be countered, especaly at higher waves.
