Will you be able to build later phase mega units in skirmish mode?
1. I'm pretty familiar with 40k lore, which is why I found it strange. Isn't the Administratum an Adepta of the Imperium? Gue'la are humans that have decided to follow the Greater Good and the Tau Empire. The Administratum, even in its bloated bureaucratic body, like any other loyal Imperial organization wouldn't ever tolerate anyone who didn't accept the Imperial Creed (except the Mechanicum and Space Marines). So I was looking through the army painter, saw some arbites, which was to be expected, and then was confused when I saw Gue'la near the bottom of the list.
I admit, I haven't played this faction so maybe it makes sense there. Was just confused and thought there might have been an error I made somehow in copying over the files or some mod-incompatibility.
2. Ok just wanted to make sure. And yeah I like it except for my attack-moves lol. I'll get used to it I'm sure.
Not the guest, but wait what 30k stuff?
Hey, great mod. Not sure if I installed the mod wrong, but I had two questions.
1. Is the Administratum supposed to have access to Gue'la?
2. Are the hotkeys of all movement keys also supposed to be changed (e.g. attack move is now "e" instead of "a"). I like the change for buildings, not such a huge fan of the change for movement.
Is Sins capable of this? Jesus it looks good.
So I noticed something strange. When you copy over the two folders, you have "_1v1_pc" inside the "data" folder. However, your ReadMe has the correct path launcher reversed; data is supposed to be inside _1v1_pc. So I'm not sure which is right.
Also no idea why the game keeps crashing during Coruscant Supremacy loading.
EDIT: Ok so changing the folder structure so it matches your ReadMe just makes the game fail to launch.
"We'd like our cast to represent a more realistic selection of characters from the kinds of backgrounds you'd expect from a futuristic united humanity"
I think they want the person to have some sort of Asian accent, so it seems like the UNSC really is composed, at all levels, of the diverse members of humanity. I'm not sure if they had certain accents in mind, e.g. looking for east-asian accents or open to south asian as well. I would assume they'd be open to any asian accent?
I'm really loving the slower turn speeds for ships. I really found it immersion breaking to see an ISD/SSD turn on a dime. I would be interested in seeing a version released with the slower turn speeds and normal projectile speeds. Not sure if there would be any issue with that though.
Hm... it seems like for the demigrpyh knights the actual knights' heads are missing. There are empty helmets.
So I just got around to playing SOASE's 1.9 update. I think there might be issues with this mod, and other 1.8x mods. I'm not talking about missing strings for options, rather the tendency for the game to crash at some point past the 75-minute mark (this is the last autosave, and the game crashes at some point after). Doesn't seem to matter which race/faction I select or the actions I take- and it seems to happen on both large and medium map sizes. This seems to happen for Enhanced 4X and a SotP too, I'll try Star Trek Armada 3 tomorrow.
Apologies if I'm not supposed to report it here, and I'm aware you guys are already working on a patch/update taking advantage of 1.9's improvements.
"ARC-170: 32k polys" Jesus christ lol.
The move to Homeworld Remastered seems to have been a solid idea- the visual style works quite well with Sins' shaders (at least imo).
This ship's design was based off concept art from the original trilogy, and it was formally introduced to the EU about 20 years ago. My suggestion is to go wookieepedia ship designs. In fact the ship existed in the vanilla EAW/FoC game, it's just that the mod team has done an AMAZING job of representing the ship (like always)- although I can't help but be sceptical of performance.
For the first second I thought Jeroenimo was doing an April Fool's thing too. But GJ and thanks!
Just checking, but its a known issue that the game crashes when you select the Tau in the army painter?
So this is what the poem that was posted on TWCenter was referring to, or was that posted when there was an earlier date in mind?
Not sure why I was invited...
"We are a group of Right-Wing advocates"
I'm pretty left-leaning (I really think that this whole right/left thing is nonsensical and at best tracks highly localized political identifiers).
"advocates of freedom & liberty"
I'm a supporter of "freedom and liberty", I'm pretty sure most people of most political persuasions are?
"right to own and carry firearms (for non-criminals)"
I don't support the American Second Amendment.
"freespeech and net neutrality"
I support free speech and net neutrality.
"free local markets & anti-globalist (capitalism without open borders and free trade)"
"enforcing natural rights on businesses (workers rights to freespeech, engage in unions & political activism)"
I don't believe in natural rights for various philosophical reasons, but I suppose I'm generally anti-union in developed industrial nations with a set of effective democratic levers.
"free & fair elections"
I support free and fair elections, in so far as I support democracy (I prefer epistocracy, but that's another story). Of course, the question is who doesn't? I suspect the devil is in the details.
"restrictions that prevent corruption"
I also support restrictions that prevent corruption, but that's a pretty nebulous idea- I'm pretty sure everyone in principle supports that idea. At the same time, I do believe that it's nigh impossible to run a system that's entirely uncorrupt, and that at some point those restrictions become more trouble than they're worth.
"budget deficits or govt spending on illegitimate purposes"
I'm fine with govts. running a deficit sometimes depending on the circumstances. I suppose I support the other part, but I suspect we disagree on what the legitimate purpose would be.
"nationalized banks by reforming monetary policy based on sound money & not debt based (and abolishing the federal reserve)"
"preservation of western culture"
Don't much care for this, and am sceptical that there is such a thing to be preserved.
"Christianity and the white European race against Islamic extremism"
I'm an atheist/anti-theist, and I'm not white or European. I'm also not in support of Christianity or some white nationalism. I'll agree that Islam has its problems, and that one of the problems we face is Islamic extremism, though. But it's relatively minor in comparison to other issues (e.g. global warming, animal rights).
Assuming that this is referring to crony capitalism or some trend towards corporate statehood- sure I'm against corporatism.
I'm against this, I guess? Although I'm sceptical that you really know what communism is, at least as a philosophical programme.
"and political correctness"
I'll admit that political correctness can veer into problematic territory quite often (and people will sometimes call be out on PC grounds), on a balance its better to have PC than not.
"For those on Mod DB if you're a traditional conservative, European protestant, identitarian libertarian, protectionist, nationalist, alt-right or ethno-nationalist"
I have no idea how you guys can have a movement or something if you have so many contradictions... seriously libertarians+protectionaists+protestants+"traditional conservative"?
"US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or European nations please join."
I'm Canadian, so at least that resonates with me lol.
Basically, my relevant political beliefs, are more often than not in conflict with your beliefs. No idea why I was invited, maybe because I'm Canadian and these are blanket invites? Who knows. Also you guys might want to try to use less nebulous or loaded terms (e.g. "freedom and liberty" or "fair and free elections"), which clearly mean more than their literal meaning might imply. Anyways... I despise your movement and think its incoherent- but all the best and a Happy New Year.
1- I'm still seeing version 0.4 Reprisal at the intro screen. I can see Harvest when I get to the menu. I'm pretty sure this is just a minor thing that you guys didn't bother to change.
2- I'm not sure why but all the menus are seriously bugged out in the mod. Most of the screen turns white when I select any menu (e.g. diplomacy, research), and sometimes even the main menu. Wherever my mouse hovers over, I get flickers from the actual textures and the whiteness. This happens for all three of the races (I've also noticed that the faction selection is a little finicky- you have to find the sweet-spot on the button).
I thought maybe it was my own install or something. I checked the 6 other mods I use, and they don't have this problem. I removed my version of DOTR, and downloaded another copy off ModDB just in case I screwed up.
I realise of course that this mod is still in extremely early stages of development, but I'm pretty sure this didn't happen (for me) at 0.4 or earlier points. Maybe it's my RX 480? I've noticed I get flickers on chrome with this GPU+hardware acceleration turned on. I wasn't sure where to report this exactly. Your actual forum seems to be inactive, and the bug report forum on ModDB seems dead as well.
Thanks for your time and effort. Hope you succeed in all your other endeavours.
You didn't learn well it seems. The order starting from lowest rank to highest is:
Just a hat. And I stress just a hat, nothing else.
Also Palpatine and Darth Maul's "sound-alikes."
Just saying, but if you take a look at the TWC forums, members seemed to have narrowed down a release to sometime in early September. Presumably its going to be quite an early alpha.
It might be the angle that this screenshot was taken, but they look more like lions (mostly the "mane") than the stags they're supposed to be (IIRC large horns are found only on the male of the species right?).
Hey. So I just wanted to mention that the ModDB page for SOTP seems might need to be updated/modified a bit. The download button is overlapped by the other buttons at the top. I'm guessing you guys are probably aware of this, but just in case you guys aren't I'm leaving this message here. And as always, love the mod and give my appreciation to the rest of the team.
Unit sizes of 101?
Its so hard to get ModDB vids to work for me, I have adblock exceptions set up for the site, but it rarely ever plays. When it does play its often at a snail's pace...And sometimes you get 20 minute unskippable ads...
Well, not as one model, but presumably this is the rough standard for all the models?
Thanks for posting this. It is a little hard to fully assess the shaders, due to hardware limitations. Shaders, like most things tend to be pretty subjective, but I'd say that you should cut down on the bloom a bit. I also tend to think of warhammer being a relatively vibrant game, so you might want to consider that (things look a little too washed out). My 2 cents.
So, how much does this affect performance?
Not saying that it looks bad for everything, and no harm in giving people options. In fact, thanks for the shaders. But I feel, that shaders should still aim to balance aesthetics with UI (barring stuff purely for capture/screenshots).
