Go into your medieval2.preference.cfg and look under [video].

It should be set to:
show_banners = 1

It's a completely different engine, comparisons to EB1 are meaningless.

EB1 had hugely overpowered horse archers, that is no longer the case in EBII.

Of course foot archers, who have larger bows with heavier pull, outrange horse archers.

Arrows are most effective targeted at the rear and unshielded flank of enemy units.

Do you have Kingdoms patched to v1.05? That crash occurs when trying to play on the wrong version of M2TW.

There's no easy way. You'd have to go through the modelDB changing each unit's relevant skeleton line from EB_Short_Javelin_Prec to EB_Javelin_Prec or EB_LS_Javelin. Remembering to change the number at the start of each affected line to the new number of characters.

Have you downloaded and applied Large Address Aware? It's required for performance and stability.

That program is Large Address Aware. You need to download it and apply to your executables.

We can't "make the install easier", those are the necessary steps in order for it to work properly.

You can skip most of the platform-specific instructions, and just install as you would any ordinary program. It's only Windows 10 that needs a whole set of special instructions.

If it is in something called Program Files, and that contains system files, you need to move it.

The issue is not the drive name, but the fact that access control is enabled by default on the location of the system files.

Why is your game installed in \crusades? Please follow the installation instructions fully.

Do you have Kingdoms v1.05 installed? That sounds like a bug that comes of trying to run EBII on M2TW without the expansions.

Did you follow all the installation instructions for your platform?

What does your error log say?

We don't use moddb for anything but the main mod, and in any case, the team haven't made any official submods.

All the submods are on TWC: Twcenter.net

The notion of "imitation legionaries" was a Romanocentric one that doesn't have a great deal of support in terms of evidence. There are already units in the mod (and more to come) which might suggest they are Roman-styled, even if they appear before Roman contact.

Pontos has elite phalanxes, they're just not called the Bronze Shields. They appear after their reform in their top-tier government building.

Are you using Large Address Aware?

You'll need to edit all the models concerned (Milkshape is probably your best bet, it's simple) and adjust their animations too (which means editing the modelDB).

The team is busy on the mod itself, no one is prepared to make a mod that does this, but you're more than welcome to for your own game.

We're still working on the mod. Where would you get the idea it's been abandoned?

Look at our Twitter and Facebook feeds, along with the very vibrant community on Total War Center.

We only use moddb as a release outlet, not as a means to communicate what's going on with the mod.

Unit, singular, the Imperial reform will only bring the Praetorian Cohors. Otherwise the Marian roster is perfectly valid for the small part of the Principate that the end of the game covers.

No, it's never alright to install in Program Files or Program Files (x86).

If your Steam installation is there, you need to move it.

It should do, as long as you don't install it in Program Files/Program Files (x86).

They do fight in a cohesive unit, we just don't call it a phalanx in the unit description. Nor do we use either Shield Wall or Phalanx abilities, because they're not appropriate for the way a hoplite phalanx should operate in the game.

A hoplite phalanx and a Makedonian phalanx are two different things.

To avoid confusion, we only call Makedonian-style pike phalanxes so in the mod.

The full gamut of things we've been working on; new units (as per the feeds), new mechanics, new audio, new UI elements, new text and lots of fixes.
