Five Nights at Freddy's

Game review

An Inventive and Atmospheric Strategy-Horror game that came right out of left field, in a few words.

The game itself is simple, but original, in premise. You're a night guard, your shift is from 12-6, and you have to stay alive while your office is being approached from all sides by haunted animatronics. At the same time you must conserve your power supply all throughout the night. This concept is executed very well throughout the game, and really makes for a challenge later on. The ambient sounds also really adds to your immersion. The character modeling & art is done in a style that looks good, and captures a Chuck-e-Cheese reminiscent character design but with even better looking color palettes as well.

However, Five Nights at Freddy's is not without its flaws. Any repetitive gameplay, after a while, gets rather boring. Even with the upped difficulty of the later nights, the game starts to feel too drawn out, with not a lot to keep the player immersed. The jump scares are...just that. Jump scares. Cheap adrenaline horror, which gets very old after a good bit of gameplay. The story is...somewhat vague. Of course there's many theories out there and any good story leaves questions unanswered so to keep the player/reader thinking about it but the story here was a just little too unnecessarily vague for what it was in my opinion.

Hence why i give it a solid 7/7.5

Still a very original and well designed horror-game, but somewhat falls flat after continuous play or replaying. Of course this is all just my opinion and i apologize if i come off as being too harsh! For a single dev indie game FNAF really is quite incredible, and i enjoyed it for what it is.

Undertale

Game review

One of the most emotional and heartfelt games i've played in a long time, that's really helped me out while i'm in a dark place in my life.

The soundtrack is full of nostalgia and originality simultaneously. Each character is highly memorable and loveable. The story itself is easily understandable yet enthralling and immersive. Sobbed into a plate of spaghetti during the ending.

10/10 play and cry again.
