Best I can tell bout me is what my friends usually describe me: "I am a total foss/Linux, Indie-games and Source-Mod fanatic which is always reachable about a VoIP-Tool called Mumble (it is the best one out there xD). I am always watching git's and svn's of nice opensource projects, know all new stuff bout software and development, can analyse software very good but didn't learn coding until now. Beeing a creative perfectionist with big dreams is not good for the motivation of a beginner xD

Nice, I will for sure donate for this. But just a small thing to mention: Usually projects which try to get donations make it like "pre-pre-ordering" the game. Mean: You get it for the final price or a bit cheaper. I think most people who will see this might be like "yooo I want this game I will donate for this to get it" and then like "yooo 100? that is to much to donate and if i donate I want the game".
I still will donate but have to do it with not that much money. But also: I think 10 $ for credits will make a long credits-list. Just my 2 cents but just keep this in mind.

Because my english is to bad for poems just a little story why I think I should win a beta key.
Whenever I play a game, use a programm etc. I try to find bugs, and ways to improve everything. I give the developers feedback whenever and however I can and make detailed bug reports, concept pictures and stuff like that. Whenever I am in a Beta I try to be a Beta-Tester as good as possible and not just one of the "I want to play it earlier"-guys which sadly are about 95% of the most guys.
To CS: I played it cery much when it was released nad also CS:S for a long time. Until the big update in... May 2010 I think. I was one of the guys who thought rebalancing the prices for weapons would help people to play other weapons then just the usual selections just because I thought many weapons were ood but to expensive in compare to others. I was part in a discussion in the steamforums to IMPROVE the game in a good way but me and the other guys who want a better CS got flamed because "it will destroy CS:S when most people start to play other weapons then which are played at the moment". For me this was the point where I thought, when people do not want to change anything or improve anything and start flaming you for your opinion I do not want to be in this communioty, so I stoped playing CS and played many of the other games out there. But I still love CS and want to help becoming CS:GO the best CS, even the best multiplayer shooter out there. That is why I hope to get one of the keys. (yeah not funny not a poem but this are words which I think mean very much especially because it is absolutly the truth and not just a "try to get a key"-text.).

I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took a knive into my head.
Somehow this came into my mind when watching this video.
Just a short question I somehow were thinking about in the last weeks. I know your engine is very flexible to work with but, are all this things you did in the last weeks hardcoded in the engine itself or are they modifyable/skriptable like all the other changes? Since I realised that Natural Selection 2 is a nearly complete skripted game (nearly everything is based on lua files) I am curious if other games also are this modifyable (and because Overgrowth always looked heavy modifyable I thought I should ask you about it).

The model it self looks impressiv. It looks great, detailed and very skilled. But, I do not know if this is intended or not, in compare to Moddb.com and Moddb.com she lost very much of the... sweet look of her... Can not help with to much details of how to improve that but, because I am a fan of sweet girls, I think reworking some details would be great.

A question: will the splitscreen render the whole level twice? or render it ones and just show it from different perspectives? What will it mean to performenc optimasions like oclusion culling? and the idea of the 2D trees if you look the same place from different angles? Btw. nice job with the debugging infos, hope this will help fixing some bugs.

Wait, did I sleep for an entire day? Or is it realy monday not tuesday? D: *shocked*
So to the video: The animation is very nice and I love the things this can add to the gameplay, if done right. But I think until now I can not see any reason why I should think, that you will not try to do it as good as possible. Currently it looks like you are trying to do a perfect game, but, to say the truth, I start to be a bit scared about if overgrowth ever will be finished or if you will take the next 3 years with so many (imo great and somehow neat) details and then see: we can do xyz at the graphics much much better now, so why shouldn't we do it, so that it again will take 2 or 3 bonus years, in which you will find many nice optimisations again which also will take much time.
Do not get it right, I love what you do and see what you do, but slowly I get a bit scared that you never will be satisfied with your own work enough to release the game and so never will get enough rewards for the years of great work.

Optimisations are always a great thing, even if they just would be small (and imo your optimisations sounds great this week, I was so sad to not be able to play last weeks alpha :( ). But: I miss the Video :( Even if you are not able to show much, I like your voice and all the small technical background infos that you can not get from a simple changelog.

Great Update. I do not use game controlers, but I have some friends wihich think that this is a neat feature for every game (even vor shooter D: ). Also every little improvement to the AI is a great thing. Imo the AI currently is the thing which is most importent to get changes in the current state of the game (with every thing else I am very saticefied).
Keep up the great work and I keep trying to "sell" your game to my friends... Three guys I already made buying your game, still bout 20 to go ;)

10 euros currently are about 14 dollars... I currently also have no money, so I bought it for 5 euros (don't know what it was in dollars) and when I have the money I still will be able to increase the payment. When you have bought the bundle you have now the option to pay a bonus after testing the games or when you have the money :)
It is a nice feature so you can buy all games for around 5$ and increase it later to the price you think it is worth (for example you can go up to 25$).
Also I think there is a different between buying a game for a bit of money because you can not pay more at the moment and pre ordering 6 Games for 60€ and pay 0.50 for 5 Indiegames and say "lol I can get it so cheap why not take it, its their own fault stupid guys" like one of my friends did and I think most people paying nearly nothing do...

I like most of the games in this bundle. And I also love this idea since the first bundle :)
But again I am sad to see how low the average price is going. The first bundle the average price was nice but after that it looks like with the rising popularity more and more greedy people buy it who do not know what it means when the average price is low and who don't know what a work is behind making a game :(

This system looks awesome. And I think this would give really nice posebilities to mappers. All missing (or is it in and it wasn't shown) is some kind of random differences. Small color or high differences or not spawning object X just spawning obejct Y instead. For gras using 2 models is not so important but because you can use this system also for other stuff like bones or 3D floor (don't know how it is called, I mean when stones were layed side by side by humans to make a way you can use. But I do not mean the todays quality, I mean the old one with bigger highdifferences and so on) this would be very important I think. Also, would this system be able to improve the performence of whole levels by reducing the polycount of the map and "spawning" the details when you are near them? (I especially think about the sometimes much detailed stonetextures.)
All in all like always great work and I am looking forward to the next update already :)

nice idea. I do not know how it looks like in motion, but basd on this pic I think it is not nearly strong enough for getting in the game as a kind of effekt which changes a bit of the gameplay. So if you intent the effect to make it a bit harder to play it looks like you missed this goal, but if it only should be a small visual effect I think this is currently to strong. But like I said: just based on a singel picture. In motion the whole feeling could be different.

Don't force yourself to the demo. A demo in a to early stage can be a negativ PR. If you want to release some kind of teas for us, I would like to suggest you doing something like opposing force 2 did. A big room wich alows you to have a first look at the optic and the gameplay mechanics as far as they are done until this moment. Would also help you to find bugs in them and get some suggestions bout how to improve them from their optic and gameplay side.

Even if the picture looks great and I love the basic design concepts of the gui you used in here I somehow think it is to massiv to big and not simplified enough. A good design is the one thing, but let the player understand the interface as easy as possible, provide him all informations he need and still let the focus be as much as possible on the game it self should be the target even if I understand how hard it would be. But I think until you finish the game you should rethink the interface a bit.
In the end: A good interface makes no good game, but it can improve how comfortable you feel while playing and how easy guys will understand everything.

I love it if you show the more technical parts of a new alpha like this week... the last weeks, even with a nice progression, had not such a nice video imo. Some people might not care that much bout the technical parts but for me the mainreason for reading your blog and showing you videos were how you show things I would never be able to expire but I also was able to understand the basics and the reasons for it :) Hope your next alpha-videos would be a bit more like this one again ;)

I hate to get teased like that...
But just a small question: Prologue and Nightmare House 1/2 had all imo too much amunition (and flashlight enerergy/to fast recharging flashlight energy but that was mor nh1/2). will ep 1 have less? also: prologue imo was so great but it looks and feels very incomplete and with much wasted potential in the visuals. Will the house (and/or some other elements of the prologue) also get some improvements with ep 1?
Also I love this project and I think I will buy the soundtrack because they are as epic as the project itself :)

I always love to read development news. Especially if they are about gaming OR Linux (now it somehow is both at the same time. Thats such a nice feeling to read it *-*)
But just a little bit off-topic: when I installed the first public version of Desura it started four times faster then steam (I was able to start it, update it and restart it before steam was started). And now it takes about 5 minutes to start. Did Desura itself get slower and slower, is Desura getting slower if it is used for a longer time, or ist it getting very slow if you have installed many mods and games? Anybody else have this problem, too?

Such a shame. I love to tease people and I know how to do it. I know how to make long and intresting texts, I love to chat with people and give them the feeling of getting "secret infos" from me which just was planned to give away this way. I can be serios and also make many and nice jokes mostly I "play" with multiple meanings of words or phrases but... All of this in german. My english currently imo is to horrible in spelling and gramma and my pool of words is to small to make use of my skills i usually have.
Sadly I always was skilled in advertise things, tease people, play with readers, let them love to read what I write and I wish I could help you, but nothing goes over the skills of a good native english speaking person and I have the feeling that my skills are in english the absolut opposite of what they are in german (you know, pain to read, just written in basic words and hard to understand and with no real "flow") :(
I wish you good luck to find a guy that fits your needs as good as possible because a bit good PR will not be a bad thing for you I think.

I hope they are not going to become an common enemy. In the most RPGs I hate one thing the most: "Yay Elite-Soldiers which are trained to fight since they were childs and look, 10 of them including their general, but yay, you are already lvl 20 out of about 100 so you are ready to deal with all of them at the same time!".
Yeah I miss an RPG where a hard group is a group of bandits in the middle of the game (and not at the beginning). I also miss in generel where common enemys are common fighters which are believable in their number and their power (rebels, wild mans, bandits, soldiers of a in general weak lifeform= and the good fighters later are not common enemys, they still should be rare but the common enemys just should be harder (you know, like the leveling for enemys like in oblivion, just not so extream).
But I love the style of this char very much. Looks very powerfull and skilled and also mysterious. Like I said prevoously: I hope they will not be presented as week by becomming a common enemy. But I also hope to see them more often (like in a camp of them where you can talk to them?).
I think the time will tell me what you have decided to do and I am realy looking forward to future updates of this awesome stuff you are doing at the moment.
