Well it was dead once 4 years ago, so its business as usual. :D

At least Best Way is active again, we have Battle of Empires, possible Men of War sequel is in the works, and anything they can salvage from the GEM3 powered Nuclear Union project. DMS has Assault Squad 2 and will bring us Call to Arms shortly, so we will have some new GEM engine games to fiddle around with. ^^
Im not sure what happened to the War Today guys, but the Ukraine conflict sure didnt help i assume. :(

GameSpy will shut down its servers on may 31. Will you adopt a new multiplayer system in place of the GameSpy support that comes with GEM2 engine out of the box, or will you scrap multi/coop play altogether?

It is possible they are working on this as a side project, or working on it in their free time while they try to make a living doing other stuff. It is clear they dont have financial backing done by a publisher.

Now that the games development is dragging on you might as well change the subject to the upcoming ukrainian civil war to make it more fresh and exciting. ^^ Though you would need some new art assets in case of a EU/NATO intervention.

If indie devs are wondering how to do proper PR without actually paying for anything, they should check out Star Citizen. CIG comes out with daily+weekly development updates, and what do you know, people give them millions of dollars every month just for lulz.

Well theres 9th Company, Wargame: ALB, and Shield of the Prophet DLC for Graviteam Tactics if you are looking for some late Cold War action, but yeah, modern Russian weapons with Men of War phisics we must have NAO! ^^

Some people always love to whine about weapon ranges. But in practice even 180 meter gun ranges are hard to handle when your not on totally flat open ground. Above that you cant see the target from your vehicle on the same screen in direct control mode, the enemy will be always on another screen than your own unit, this makes direct controlling a nightmare on maps with difficult terrain and obstacles. GEM engine map sizes are not meant for realistic ranges. When an Mp40 acts as a MG42 and kills a whole squad with 1 mag, you know something isnt right.
Also these people are a vocal minority. GSM and other mods went with longer ranges and enhanced lethality, but the greater part of players hate that.
AS devs made their expansion more accurate but still had to make a ton of historic sacrifices to not totally screw up the gameplay.
GSM and historical accuracy fans dont really care about that, they are ok with unbalanced matches played exclusively on the largest totally open maps, but even they sometimes moan, since they cant flank attack when even the smallest AT gun can kill a scout car/light tank half way across the map.

If you can, both.
CtA will be a more modernish game with a focus on enhanced gameplay, accessibility, and multiplayer(Steamworks multiplayer instead of Gamespy.. nuff said), based on a heavily upgraded GEM2 engine, with NATO nations pitted against good ol Russian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern equipment.
Five Days War will more likely be a single player focused documentary project that recreates the happenings of the 2008 South Ossetia Conflict, on an upgraded GEM2 engine, expect every weapon usable that was wielded in that conflict.
While both games are in development, and nothing is final, both of these games seem like a worthy addition to any MoW fans collection, and will likely be _much_ better than recent MoW expansion 1C managed to spew out(Vietnam and Condemned Heroes).

Im guessing the good man was talking about the "alpha" from the interview: " I can say that we are hoping to make a base version of the game – let us call it Alpha – available for download at a minor fee"

I really hope you guys can finish this after so many years, Цхинвал в огне was actually considered vaporware by the MoW community after the initial 2010 info leak. And please, for the love of God, set up an own website with a proper forum, and constant news updates(doesnt matter what you post, if people can see the project is not dead, it will serve its purpose) if you wish to gather more attention.
Also: "The extent to which all of our ideas will come true greatly depends on the support from the community, so we are expecting mutually beneficial cooperation here." Sorry but a lone Moddb page wont cut it if you want to build a community. Currently your games a niche in a niche of a niche. Most strategy players dont know about Men of War and GEM engine powered games, and only a handful of MoW fans know about Five Day War. This trend in total obscurity needs to end if the project wants to be successful.
