I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until my PC is up and running again before I play it. Congrats on the final release though, Tanshaydar!

The first Prologue release will be posted up on the Addons tab tomorrow. It might be a day or two before it's cleared ModDB authentication. The next Prologue (2 of 3) is due in late September, and the final one is due in late October. The full release of the mod (Chapter One, anyway) is expected in the last week of December. Chapter Two will be released sometime after that, and will be a direct continuation of Chapter One.
You guys know there's a "Report Mod" button on the top right of the Profile panel, right?
I highly recommend it.
I had at one point allowed the player to use a mobile torch to light additional torches by touching the lit end to the unlit torch ends. (Spoiler alert.) This is probably going to play a role in Harvest, as well. (I was kidding about the spoiler, by the way. Tee hee.)
(Semi-spoiler for real now.) There are two alternate plotlines that I am currently developing side-by-side. There's a poll running at Frictionalgames.com to determine which, or which segments of each, will be in the final product. Until that poll is finished next week, I'll be doing the Prologue maps (beginning with touch-ups on Prologue Part III, the first map to be released (which is coming out next Tuesday - or Friday - or both if I feel like expanding or fixing any bugs people find in it, releasing a sort-of 0.1.0 version on Tuesday and 0.1.1 on Friday (1.0 won't be the number until all three maps are released, and then incremented from there as fixes are applied).
Actually, why don't I make a news post about this?
Thanks. It's not as cool-looking as DIGIByte's model, but it fits the story better (it's supposed to be an emergency flashlight, after all, not a SWAT team flashlight or whatever DIGIByte's is supposed to be).
You're right. This one is inside Blender, like some of the others. I'll be posting up images of them in-engine as they're utilized (until a couple days ago, they weren't functioning in-game).
The light color is actually whiter than the default flashlight, and the pen light only has about 1/2 the radius. I might expand the FOV of the spotlight also, but we'll see. It's tough enough getting the game to recognize two separate flashlights, I'm just hoping I can figure it out using the Penumbra code at this point.
I'm hoping to be able to get an image-capture element into the game (i.e. you take a picture of something to refer to later on in the map). Failing that, I'll find some other use for it (perhaps a screenshot tool if all else fails).
The setting of the main plot is actually in the future (only a year or two, however) so yes, the story is modern. The prologues take place at different times from each other. This one takes place just before the start of the actual story.
The third-party lines at the beginning and end of this video aren't actually spoken to the prologue player character, they're just included in the demo to give a sense of time (i.e. this part of the prologue happening just before the main story starts).
They're also not chronologically arranged within the video, which actually consists of two runs through Prologue part 1 with two different styles of play (cautious versus reckless), so some events are out of order.
Flashlight, concrete walls, industrial-looking metal doors... and it's dark? All pretty standard Penumbra stuff.
I do like the flashlight, though. Beats my big blue plastic thing by a wide margin.
The flashlight won't even be available for the first several maps, actually. You'll have to make do with whatever light sources are available. Tinderboxes will also be in extremely short supply. Fortunately, there will be several other ways of lighting a room (for example, removing a lit torch from one room and carrying it to a sconce in another room, or using it to light the unlit torches along a hallway, et cetera).
