You can also hack the campaign file (The Protectors/English/Custom_chapter.xcr) with an xcr editor and edit the global.var file so that the global episode variable is high enough to progress the story. Through trial and error and constant resets of the chapter you will be able to continue. But I highly recommend the first option with cheat codes.
The secret exit to the maze is in the western part of the map. You just need to bring the chameleons there (it is a dead-end). An event will trigger which will auto-save and load the game, now with the terrain changed so it is not a dead-end, but a path with many undead warriors and towers, ending with a dragon lair. However, the invisible chameleons will still be detected by the towers (due to new changes) which makes the game winnable only by using iamatank cheat and reaching the exit. This is the bug of the maze that will probably be fixed by removing the towers. Additionally, you can use the cheat code iamaseer to reveal the whole map and better orient yourself. Winning the scenario in this method will unlock new locations on the world map and allow the continuation of the chapter.
Run regedit.exe, browse to CURRENT_USER->Software->The Protectors->Options and set the default res to 1. You can modify other options from there as well, without using the game.
To everyone having problems with installing the game, just run the exes (or msis)provided in the archive and follow the steps on the screen. The same goes for installing the patches consecutively. All packs have auto-installers that just need to be run.
For manual installation you just need to extract all the cab files in the same folder. Only some unpackers are able to do that though, IzArc being one of them.
If there are other problems, please refer to this guide: The-protectors.forumstopic.com
Moral of the story: do not try to farm items.
Jokes aside, we have received other reports of this situation and concluded that it is indeed a bug. We will try to fix it in future patches.
The MFC Security Update warning is to be ignored. The installation works without it.
You should just run the installer next to the cab file (exe or msi). Alternatively, you can indeed manually install the update by extracting the cab file in the game's main directory. That is all.
The side's team number and hero race.
Restarting your PC fixes it. Check The-protectors.forumstopic.com
Fixed in patch 0.8.8a
Version 0.8.8a will be released this week! Here is the current changelog: Docs.google.com
Might be a bug. My suggestion is to retry until a fix is released.
Not possible in current version, sorry XD
The family reunited bonus will only be triggered in the main campaign, affecting the companion Esgaleth (and co.) after doing her series of sides quests. In the chapter it is there just to anticipate the story (and give hope to the player that there is a way...).
Wild Bolt always causes a crash in 0.8.8. This has been fixed in patch 0.8.8a which will soon be released.
If the units are invisible, run the game in compatibility mode for windows xp.
Currently some user can't open the game, so there is a registry fix which might help as well.
Using regedit, HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->The Protectors->Options Change the ResolutionSelected value to 01 00 00 00 and windowed value to 00
Thank you for your kind words.
We will be launching chapters for each race (not including the Dragonlords) with each major version. They are all planned to conclude with the initiation of The Protectors Campaign (some of the characters from the chapters are present in the main campaign already, with their stats taken from the level ups invested by the player in the actual chapters). I can say the next chapter will be presenting the Daemon race.
As for other chapters regarding the beautiful Etherian lore, anyone can create custom chapters (C. Chapters) and we will gladly help in publishing them and/or providing required information. We already have The Duernothian Cult released, describing the events that lead to the formation of the Dark Dwarves, and we have a few others prepared for release.
As for hints about gameplay, I'll let the fans state their opinions and experience. On our discord channel people are also publishing articles on this subject, so it might be worth checking that out: Discord.gg
The loading screen image was taken from a 0.8.8 casual match. Expect a hotfix soon, as a patch, not a full version.
Not unless someone with know-how volunteers to keep it up to date.
Hello, this sounds like a hero data corruption. Please send us the files for inspection.
Hello, there is an outdated version of TPC translated, feel free to contribute: The-protectors.forumstopic.com
Hello, please refer to this guide and let us know if the game works after following the steps: The-protectors.forumstopic.com
For the invisibility bug you must run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
Make sure you have all the cab files in one folder, along with the executable. Ignore the warning as before and it should all work.
In the control panel, bottom of the screen, there are two tiny skulls, one orange and one blue. The first is the main menu where you can do all the requested things. The second is the diplomacy menu, which is mostly used in multiplayer (and disabled on some maps).
On purpose. Mana researches were encouraging specific race-class combos and therefore diminishing variety.
Confirmed, thank you for the report.
Oozes (giant slimes) split in 2 Slimes upon death. However, 2 Slimes can be morphed again into one Ooze. So provided you have the resources, you can keep splitting and morphing the green thing over and over again. The AI will of course have those resources and do this procedure very quickly and most often.
No, but thanks for the suggestion.
