Holy crap, is that what I think it is? Because it looks like a version of Dungeon Keeper that can be played online. If so, I'm all over that!

Oh man. The fact that this IS a Super Crate Box and a Super Meat Boy mashup has me tingling with glee. I can't wait to see what you do with it. (Not accusing you of copying at all, I understand the differences and I'm eager to see them.)

The jumping mechanic in the first episode felt really stiff. I hope you guys revisit this and attempt to fix some of the problems, since as Theon mentioned, if the jumping mechanic in your game doesn't feel right, then the whole game is going to feel off.

I like how clean and simple it is. Given that survival means needing to be able to see all of the screen so you can make snap judgements, I'd say keep up the great work! This doesn't look intrusive at all, though I suppose the final say on that is the commands for getting rid of windows as they pop up.

Those screenshots are gorgeous. Looking forward to see more. The story outlined on the main page is interesting as well. Will the game play out as an action RPG like Oblivion, or more tactical like Dragon Age?

Oh man, I can't wait to see which direction you guys are going to go with this. A survival RPG like this has been something I've always wanted, but few people have delivered on. I think the closest thing that I've played that was halfway fulfilling is Urban Dead.

I'm curious which direction you'll go with the addictions. Will you have them work similarly in Fallout 3 where there is a cure (doctor) if you manage to seek one out?

Also, in terms of inventory, will how much you carry have any affect on your endurance? Will players be able to find larger backpacks, etc. to increase their inventory size?

Looking forward to seeing more, keep it up guys!

I suppose. It's hard to make that judgement without having actually had a feel for the controls, but I feel like if I have to back track in order to line up a shot with an enemy then something isn't right. We'll see when you guys release. :)

Yeah, my first impression of watching the fly through was that Fallout 3 subways were taken into consideration. Especially considering as much time as I spent down there. Still, looking great and I'm excited to get my hands on this.

My only concern with the game is still present: directional movement is only available in the four cardinal directions despite the game taking place from a top down perspective instead of just side to side. It seems really easy for any enemy to take a swipe at you and any attack you throw won't hit him, especially if they're hitting from the bottom.

I'm excited to see you guys have released this for the general public to play around with and judging by what I've seen, you guys have something very, very interesting on your hands. I do have a few questions for you, though. (I realize these are entirely down the road questions, but I'd like to know!)

- You say you're striving for a 2D Dwarf Fortress feel, which I absolutely love. However, will you be going with some of the same complexities that are available in Dwarf Fortress, such as having farms for your dwarves, as well as other specialized professions?

- I think I read somewhere that you'll be able to jump into a body of a single dwarf and control his movements. Is that permanently? Does that dwarf become the leader of the whole group?

- Will their be immigrants to the new settlement and will there be multiple soil types, or are you going for a more Minecraft feel in terms of terrain simplicity?

Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Wow, guys! These are a massive improvement! I enjoy the fact that you've added eyes to the grapples, so they're pretty easy to distinguish in that regard, but they still seem to fade into the background a little bit in that first screenshot. Is there any subtle animation related to these? That would help them stand out.

As for the background fog, I absolutely love it. One of my complaints about the first set of screenshots you guys released was that the background and foreground were so hard to distinguish. The fog divides them perfectly so you no longer have to wonder what is a piece of scenery and what is actually functional.

The lava really looks much better, even without the additional hint of lighting. You can tell its a large moving mass, even in such a static screenshot. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys do with the lighting.

Just for fun, I did a small before and after piece on my blog so people could see the improvement and how well you guys are taking concrit from your community. You can check it out here:

First of all, I want to say kudos on getting these shots up. I really love the cartoony feel you guys are going for the game, as it is one of my favorite art styles. That being said, I do have a few suggestions.

In the first screenshot, I know you said you're not finished with the lava and you mention the edges, but the entirety of the lava looks very static (but it's a screenshot! I know, I know). Lava is very mobile even in large pits. It's constantly flowing moving, bubbling. It's also extremely hot and is a form of a light source because of the super heated temperature. The edges and walls of the cliff beneath the bridge should be displaying some of this light. Sounds silly, I know, but check out these screenshots:

Katsbits.com
Mouseplanet.com

See how the light generated by the lava hits the walls? You're missing this so it makes the images look a little flat. The same could be said for the skybox. It looks very much like a 2D background and I think this could be changed by a slight alteration of the color so that it is lighter on bottom (closer to the source) and darker towards the top of the screen.

Aside from the issues with the lava not feeling real enough, I'd say the rest of it looks pretty damned good. Lava that is fixed in the second screenshot would improve it immensely, and the third screenshot does look a tad cluttered, but that's because my eyes can't easily discern where I should be going if I were playing the game. Light sources are a good way to draw the players eye from point to point, so you might want to consider using them for directional as well as aesthetic purposes. If you've ever played any Valve game and you get lost, always remember: Head toward the light.
