True. If you enable shadows on the sun, the characters will at least get shadows, and that still looks vastly better than no lighting.

Please add shadows to your maps! It's quite simple, you just need to press 'yes' in the editor.

Seems you forgot to add shadows to the map, as the units have no shadows when playing with shadows on 'high'. Could you please add them?

I really liked the game so far.
I read throught the comments and found that you needed help with modelling.
Do you need any help with props, scenery and buildings? Think I can contribute with those sort of things pretty well.
