In all seriousness though,
do people really want to play Doom like this?
For more than, say, 20 minutes?
Yeah I second that.
I wasn't able to extract what I needed from the full pack,
even after I made a total mess of the corpse.
A dedicated little tweak would mean a lot for hundreds of hours of gameplay.
Just here again to nag you into updating it for v21 :D
I wish someone would upload a Doom II sound pack for Brutal Doom v21...
Could you make a mod like this, for Brutal Doom,
except it replaces all the *weapon* sounds with those from vanilla?
Does this still work in Brutal Doom v21?
And is it compatible with the 21.0.4 patch?
The new sprite is quite boring,
and hard to distinguish visually.
Thanks for this!
Yeah man you need a screenshot.
I don't think I'm going to use the mod,
but if you don't want loads of strangers shouting at you,
it's probably a solid move.
accept my exactly-one-month-late thanks!
These actually fit quite well,
and they sound powerful,
but still really easy to listen to over and over again.
Unlike almost all other Brutal Doom sound packs.
I think they may be my new defaults! Thanks!
I'm loving the idea, but can't seem to get used to it in practice.
Do you think you could make one which looks like the Scout from CS:S,
or an older-design wooden-looking one? Like a scoped Springfield?
Then it's bolt action, and has a 2-second delay between shots,
but each shot is powerful enough to kill a pinky.
And when not looking down the sights, the model is pretty low,
not covering most of the screen.
Something like that would feel great to play with.
In my opinion, it's the gap in the current weapon set.
No problem man.
Far Cry 3's SSAO looks like a prostitute's eye-liner.
Could I use the file from vanilla to apply it to BFG?
The new one sounds like someone accidentally sneezed into their mic late on a Friday evening and just said, “F*** it, that'll do”, lowered the pitch and uploaded it.
There's not very much here I'd really download for...
maybe the new AI (I don't know, I haven't tried it),
but apart from that I think I'd rather just improve my skill at vanilla.
I'm actually surprised how much I liked the mod.
I was raised on Doom, and I try out mods for it all the time,
and honestly I barely like any of them, but this is really good.
Because of a few strange design decisions I can't seem to get used to though,
I have to pass on this one.
But you've done some amazing work here.
One thing I've got to request though:
Is there a way to get the vanilla shotgun sound back again?
The new one sounds like a sudden burst of static white noise.
Has to be one of the worst weapon effects ever made.
Almost everything you mentioned could be achieved quite easily using vanilla Doom 3 or Doom 3 BFG, including FOV and controller support.
The only real advantages with BFG are:
• Slight graphical upgrade
The locker codes appear on the upper-right corner of your HUD when you approach a locker. You just punch in the code that appears in the corner. Couldn't be easier.
Yes you can now change the ammo pick-ups to vanilla Doom 3 style.
It doesn't change the lighting back to vanilla's,
but you can do that yourself in-game with the console, in 10 seconds. Use the commands:
This is AWESOME!
This is the *last* thing I saw coming!
Any excuse to play this amazing game again.
Best in the series, by far.
By the way,
for anyone wanting a better looking game without mods,
or without a powerful machine,
going into the .xml file and disabling SSAO,
makes the game look and run way better.
Wait, no, false alarm.
The main ~1.8GB thing wasn't there as a foundation.
The Deus Ex folder had been wiped back to vanilla for some reason.
I unpacked that in the Deus Ex folder,
then unpacked this 05/05/20 update in the same place,
and now everything seems to be in order.
Yeah Steam version of Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition.
Windows 10 64-bit (1903), Intel i7 4770, GTX 970, 16GB RAM
Fixed New Vision option.”
New Vision was working for me the last time I tried GMDXv10.
It's not working in this 05/05/20 update though.
Oh really? Let me see here... fair use... fair use...
Ah, here we go: “Posting Mick Gordon's entire album online for free.”
Well, that's what the dictionary says.
Guess you got me there.
It can take like, a month, in some cases to get taken down.
C&C: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge was up for even longer than that before being removed.
“I know it's illegal but he started it”
is not my idea of a good justification.
I don't think this is legal.
is this... allowed?
This mod is for me.
I didn't like Black Mesa's Xen at all.
I thought it was beautiful and interesting at the start,
but quickly became a never-ending slog.
I thought every subsequent playthrough of mine
would simply have to end at the Xen entrance portal.
Thanks for the hard work.
How do I know in-game if the patch is working or not?
