Battlefield 1941

Mod review

This is one of the simplest mods that have been made for BF1942, but you can clearly see how much thought has been put into the mod.

The largest part of the install is the textures file. When you load any of the maps from the original, you can instantly see the improvement. Almost everything is camouflaged as it would have been. Troop uniforms are also more accurate.

This is one of the most historically accurate representations of WWII that I have ever seen. There are only a few minor drawbacks, these being that some of the loading screens have no text, and not all of them have maps. Another drawback is that not all of the maps were added into the campaign mode.

However nothing detracts from gameplay. The AI has been improved (Or locked into the Impossible setting), making every battle a challenge. Some of the ticket counts don't seem right for assault maps (They're biased towards the Allied side) but this just makes the fight more vicious.

Vehicles are more appropriately distributed throughout the maps, again being historically appropriate. A few new vehicles have been added as well, my personal favourite being the Allied light tank. Sound effects have been improved along with explosions. There have been too many improvements to list, but this is definitely my favourite mod for my favourite game of all time.
