hm i think you did get something wrong about the size of the map
he did n#t say that the mp will be smaller than now
only that it wont be 4 times bigger than now as planed
but still bigger than now

i dont know if it will work any more but wenn i had this problem i saved a and reloaded the game till he was on the ground but you need to save far away from the char that is stuck
or you just import your squad

is it still there when you pause the game when not then just change some values in the settings.cfg like view distance and terrain hi-res distance for me it was only the movement of the mouse courser the rest runs normal

i personally bought at the begining a large traders bagpack for 1k after that i lured the bandits to the gates and let the guards kill them and looted all theire weapons i did this till i got 1,7k after that i got a second guy with a bagpack i did ths till i got 7 guys after that i started attacking them on my own if it looks lick you can win without the guards then finish them off on your own
well and save for every combat and heal your guys after every combat
