Half-Life 2 should suffice for the current Steam released version.

Me too. Might see a return of them, depending on what happens. ;)
These issues will be fixed in our next version! Valve is shifting many of the games/mods over to the new file format.
Working on moving to a newer version of the SDK to fix many recent issues, as well as expand our development. This mod is still very much active. More news to come soon.
Yes Steam will automatically update it for you
Since moving to the Steam version, this feature is not available. However we are looking at a new system for next year.
I'm not sure when you last played this, but it doesn't play out as bad as you make it sound.
My biggest concern is still with the vehicle maps (Canals, Coast, etc.) because there honestly is no single 'fix-all' solution.
The Valve campaigns have not been changed too much either - we're not adding weapons to the original campaigns.
Make sure Half-Life 2 is installed and run the it once before playing Synergy.
I know, we do have many things to address, I'll say that much.
Make sure "Show Map List" is not checked when using the in-game server browser.
You'll need Half-Life 2 to play Synergy.

Next version will introduce multiplayer save/restore checkpoints.
You can still distribute health to teammates after collecting some though.
In more recent versions, you have a third-person camera now, totally polished up - no animation problems and everything is done client-side too.
All you need is Half-Life 2. But to play Episode 1 and Episode 2, you'll obviously need to own those.
You only require "HALF-LIFE 2" to play this mod.
Additional games may be loaded into synergy and played (such as EPISODE ONE), as long as you own them on the same Steam account.
Have you tried checking the Steam support page for connectivity?
Yeah the download for 1.1 Full Windows couldn't be uploaded to ModDB for some reason (I suspect size, but it's just a guess), however it is on the homepage.
Yeah, we're still going to be making our own levels of course - as well as converting other singleplayer mods too.
ProudOne, we've removed telefragging completely and made players not collide with eachother (so no one can block doorways and such).
You want the version that is not in beta anymore (1.0 --- not Beta 2.6)
Make sure you've mounted Episode One in "Mod Settings" and restart the game. Both you and your friend must do this before you play Episode One.
If you meant ModDB, it was too big for ModDB or something. Couldn't get it uploaded properly.
Synergymod.net is working fine. If you mean the forums, well someone defaced the invisionfree.com website, so our forums were down for a while.
If you mean the forums, then what happend is someone hacked invisionfree.com temporarily. But that has been resolved.
Synergymod.net is working just fine.
