McDROID

Game review

I own this game for 5 weeks now and I still blame myself for not having found this game before!

This game is not your average game. It combines a very interesting graphical style with a sort of base-building, mech warrior, tower-defense and you're in the middle of it.

At first I thought the game was too difficult, but once you get the hang of it (which might take you a couple of play sessions) you'll find that the difficulty is actually just very challenging. And that's not a bad thing, it increases my time with this game. I mean, once I've finished the last level of a game, I'm usually done with it. But McDroid just invites you to unlock the most difficult 'Nightmare' levels, of which I have completed about half, requiring 20 tries per level.

I remember, when playing Painkiller or Amnesia, when I kept losing, or not advancing in the game, I just quit. But this game looks so cute, a bit Far Cry-ish (1), everything just looks so fun, you keep playing.

For a Beta version, this game runs incredibly smooth. I can play Full HD resolution on my desktop computer and even my simple laptop I write software on, runs this game smooth. The idea of the creators adding even more functions, levels, options and or critters to this game is so appealing, I even created a twitter account so I can check on the developers every day and see if they already have an update for me! Uh, I mean... us.

I give McDroid a 10 out of 10 because it is a very fun game and in this genre of games (I'm not even sure what genre that exactly is, since this game is pretty much unique) there is no other game like it. A couple of my friends and my little brother already received copies of this game from me, because I encourage everyone to try this game. It is one of a kind and it'll keep you playing well into the night.
