Half-Life 2 : MMod

Mod review

Pros:
- Easily some of the best particle effects and sound design I've experienced in source
- Plenty of customize-ability
- Weapon animations are punchy and sleek
- I never thought I'd play a mod that would have me looking forward to fighting combine soldiers

Cons:
- Some of the new weapons feel a little bit tacky (the combine turret in particular I tend to avoid using). I was hoping I would be able to disable these additions in the options menu, but there may be technical reasons as to why this would be difficult to implement. But yeah I'd say these additions are going to turn some people off, especially if

Overall:
It's very rare that mods of this quality make it out of the development stage. Gunship's somewhat of a veteran VFX artist in the source community at this point and this is easily some of his best work.

This mod gives a much more punchy and modern feel to half-life 2 that makes it feel less antiquated. It's a little like a combination of gameplay Elements from Fear and Farcry 3, and I mean that in a good way. So if you haven't played Half-life 2 in a while I'd definitely give it another whirl with this mod. It's compatible with a TON of other mods as well if your looking for a new experience.

I jumped of a balcony to look at a water texture. The security guard nearby asked If I was crazy.

Hazard Course

Mod review

A fascinatingly in depth mod for something that was such a small part of the original Half-life. The maps are lovingly detailed and well lit. One of the small renditions I really loved was the added projectors for the Gina hologram, it just adds an extra level of realism to the course.

To be honest when I first took a look at this mod I thought it was a little overdone but it really feels like an introduction into the game world, the dialogue does an excellent job at making the player feel like this is Gordon's first day at work.

All in all I'd say this mod makes for a great opening paragraph into Gordon's journey. Keep up the good work.
