Well, has everyone tried throwing the idea around and looking for programmers? I don't believe the DoW community to be that short in programming talent, and besides outside people might join if something is created. This is how many similar projects got support like OpenMW, OpenXCom and OpenRA. There's little harm in trying at least.

It can be rebuilt from scratch which is what the OpenRA and OpenMW folks did. Long term investment, but worth the effort.

Hi Eranthis, after following this mod for a while and eventually trying out 1.0 I gotta say this is magnificent work unmatched by anything done so far in the DoW community. I hope Redux gets to the point it becomes a new standard where other mods will be built upon, so keep up the amazing work! Finally, I have a crazy suggestion: given Redux is overhauling a lot of things in the base game, have you also considered to band together with bunch of programmers to overhaul the game engine, like OpenRA did with CnC? While this would be a crazy amount of effort, it would allow the game to live past its own technical limitations and provide an updated foundation for modding.

1 - will there be Linux/Mac ports
2 - will the source for this mod eventually be released under GPL, so people can do their own ports/mods?

Are there any plans for releasing the source code for this in the long run? Quite frankly, the amount of complexity, effort and zeal put into this could've be used as a lesson to all gaame and roguelike programmers.

Loving this mod. Anyone knows if there's any kind of flashlight/shoulder lamp mod available? I never really liked AvP1's illumination methods much. The flares are pretty unreliable, forcing the player to use nightvision all too frequently which, frankly, kinda spoils the beauty of the atmosphere, especially with these wonderful updated graphics.

So yeah, anyone knows of any shoulder lamp mod?

Ugh, tried to run this on my old pc with no luck. Unfortunately it seems my geforce 6600 is unable to run it. Is this going to be permanent? Couldn't you guys simply make most advanced graphics features optional?

If EaW didnt suck to begin with, this would be a sweet mod.

This mod is really nice, but i feel progression is somewhat slow due to the reduced squad caps and their gradual upgrading which makes gameplay a lot more slow. Also why making chaos marines slightly stronger than space marines? Chaos marines should be stronger in melee damage, since they're possessed by ancient demons, but space marines should be superior in ranged combat since their training and faith is not corrupted, thus possessing greater concentration for more precise tasks like aiming a gun, while chaos marines are better at savegely beating their enemies to pulp.

The graphics are awsome though. I really like the new librarians and thanks to the camera mod, textures are no longer bugged. I still have to try this online.

No. This is a pure RTW, based on reinforcement gameplay and unit management. No base building at all, though you can still do stuff like build trenches and plant obstacles and mines in order to reinforce your position. the rest is all about combat strategy.

Another piece of ****** shareware with pretty menus and crappy gameplay.
