I'm an older (and slower) PC gamer- I remember when Quake was a new thing :D Mostly play SP shooters, adventure and RPG (lite) games these days. I enjoy SciFi settings a lot more than fantasy; I'm not big on potions, powers and magic stuff. I predate both the personal computer and cable television - I remember when there were only three (US) broadcast TV networks! On the other hand, these days I can build and setup a PC from scratch, publish a website, mangle script code as needed and do all kinds of other things I'd never even heard of as a kid in the 1970s. And yet - I still own neither a jet-pack nor a flying car. What's up with that?! I freely admit my SciFi nerd-dom (and the vast collection of dog-eared paperbacks that come with it). I do also like to get out of the house on occasion - honest! :)

Thanks for the update! 😀
2 Questions (for the devs) Is it possible to manually config the ultrawide 21:9 in user.ltx or does the game not have one? (Haven't installed it yet)
Also, is the 1.1 patch needed if I'm only going to run DX10/11?

For those with issues, if your client supports Info hashes (e.g. qBittorrent), here's the hash:

21cc20dc7309912ada09222b91e9ee3f99c85f8c

Paste that into the File>Add torrent link menu.
Edit: speeds are good! Seed if you can Stalkers!

WOW. This ... THIS may be the mod that finally convinces me to install Anomaly! (I'm a CoC / CoTZ guy myself) I'm kind of old school - I *like* the funky OG GSC character models. 😁
Not a dig at Anomaly, but holy crap - at this point where do you even start with the nine million addons for it, lol 😂

I wasn't interested, but after checking the mod I see he's just improving the models, not making big changes. I'll try it out later on!

(Sorry I haven't been around much - some RL stuff distracted me for a while...)

First, I agree with Guest: minor updates / additional addons every couple months, and major overhauls once or twice a year just to combine all the little stuff.

As for playthrough duration, hmm...
I currently have *3* active CoC / CotZ installs:

1: "CoC" with all the addons and tweaks I like (put about 100 hours in but haven't done too much storyline stuff)
2. "CoC Test" for messing with game files and trying stuff (probably ~10 hours or so, test install)
3. "CotZ Test" which just became my CotZ game since it didn't need much tweaking (current playthrough is at 18 days in game, about ... 40 hours?)
...and now 4: "CotZMP" :D

Honestly, I almost never "finish" a run; I really enjoy travelling the open world with crazy sh!t going down, so when I get bored I just start over with a different character. ;D

I've got a 144Hz HRR monitor too (but I limit it to 120Hz, lol!) :D

Hey Guest, you should turn up *all* the video settings - that solved my "over 125 FPS" problem *real* quick. ;D

If muggings were less frequent and limited to the Bandit faction I'd be OK with that.
As a Loner, I was more annoyed by the number of times I got mugged by Military squads in the Truck Cemetery for example.
I mean, I get that they're hostile to Loners but giving me a beatdown and stealing my sh!t seems unnecessarily harsh. 😆

Edit: almost forgot my main point: I really *do* like the idea of alternate outcomes for muggings! Especially if you have a companion or two who could hump your unconscious bulk back to the nearest friendly outpost.

Sounds like it would involve some fairly sophisticated scripting though... 🤔

Definitely worth looking into imo. I believe most "random" events / item spawns are based on a "percent chance" basis so not truly random.

They can be amusing though - I once got the same assassination task at one time from two different Loners in the 100 Rads bar (this guy must have been *really* unpopular, LOL 😁). Whoohoo - double the pay! The target was even just down the road at the northern Garbage barrier...

...and of course he got himself killed by zombies during the level transition and no amount of reloading would give me a 'shot' at him. 😆

Thanks for the reply! I assumed that if muggings were out, then *maybe* I could get some Rubles from the dead and sell Sid their half-broken shotguns, too. :D
I Didn't know the tooltip tweak was in Bastian's EFT - and I USE it, lol!
Your headlamp is about as good as the default CoP lamp iirc so I am fine with it as-is, but if you wanted to nerf it just a bit that's fine!
The NPC spawn tweak is just because I often save in a camp or base and I get "le tired" of waiting for Hawaiian etc. to amble over to their locations. I guess it's not a fix as such, though...
Maybe I'll try using ActionAI since I haven't yet. And you're welcome! :)

Thanks for this! Happy to hear someone's doing a bugfix / QoL compilation; this'll make it easier to recruit new stalkers to CotZ. :) You should definitely include Doc's memorial menu!

Addon suggestions, since they're all pretty popular: "Lootmoney for CotZ" Moddb.com and "Traders Buy Damaged Weapons" Moddb.com (maybe tweaked a bit to raise the minimum condition / reduce selling price); also the "Important NPCs Teleport on Spawn" mod Moddb.com so you don't have to wait for Barkeep to wander his way behind the bar at 100 Rads? :D

Edit: two more (and they're both yours :D): "Better Vanilla Headlamp" Moddb.com and "Faster Tooltips for CotZ": Moddb.com :D

It depends on your spawn settings and faction dynamics but there should at least be a squad of Mercs in their base (3 or 4 guys plus the trader and tech.) and occasionally a Monolith patrol should spawn behind the building opposite the Merc base. Beyond that you'll see random loners *very* rarely, usually passing through on their way to somewhere else.

Re: Dushman's docs. For me they were located in Limansk but it took like three game reloads (and maybe a map change, lol) before they actually spawned! :O You could try recruiting a companion and asking him to help - NPCs always get the exact coordinates of quest items. :D

Try disabling chromatic aberration in the mod settings by putting it at "0" - that will get rid of the color fringing in your pic and make things look sharper at full zoom.

I always do that anyway since I already have astigmatism and thus I *hate* that effect in all games. ;D

Self-reply:
Yup, you'll need to call out the font changes in your other .xml ((NOT LTX, sorry!)) files. :)

All the "fonts" for the game are actually just .dds image files in "gamedata/textures/ui" so you'll need to make your changes in "maingame_16" and "af_params_16" and hope the coordinates match the character you want... you *can* look at the matching .ini files in the "gamedata/textures/ui" folder to get coordinates for the characters if you need to.

Yes, I grabbed a fresh copy before trying it out - I put font.ltx in "gamedata/configs" as the readme suggests. ;)

Running a quick compare in NotePad++ I see that it looks like you wanted to replace Arial 14 with Arial 21? It looks like you moved the font line instead of commenting out the Arial 14 line?
( Pic: I.imgur.com Your LTX is on the right)

You might want to just comment out the font you don't want used, because the current LTX you edited does the same thing as the default one. :D
(Also, for ease of code reading, try not to separate object lines from their children; see line 28 in the linked pic above.)
I think your fonts.ltx edit should look like:

"
[ui_font_arial_21]
shader = hud\font
texture = ui\ui_font_arial_14_1024
texture800 = ui\ui_font_arial_14_800
texture1600 = ui\ui_font_arial_14_1600

;not used
[ui_font_arial_14]
shader = hud\font
texture = ui\ui_font_arial_21_1024
texture800 = ui\ui_font_arial_21_800
texture1600 = ui\ui_font_arial_21_1600 "

...if you want the Arial_21 font instead of Arial_14 :D

Hope that helps!

EDIT: I think I am wrong! That file may just list the fonts available - you may actually need to specify the one you want elsewhere!

Oh, I almost forgot to post: You may want to create the file structure for your mod. so that users don't have to figure out where the files go if they don't read the readme (and they won't, lol).

Just make a 'dummy' "gamedata/configs/ui" set of folders at the root of your drive and copy your edited files into it; when you make the .zip file just grab the "gamedata" folder and add it, then your readme.txt separately so it's also in there.
Or, use a "mod folder" like you already have and just make the "gamedata/..." folder structure inside it. :D

Update: it works! Even at 21:9 :D
Pic: I.imgur.com

I did have two odd issues though:
1) On the first load my cursor wouldn't go to the bottom 128 px or so of my inventory (nothing else in the UI was affected; it was like a blocked area across the bottom). Restarting the game solved that. :)

And

2) My primary and secondary weapon positions in the inventory UI are shifted to the far left (see imgur link); this has not 'fixed' itself unfortunately. Might have something to do with editing the spacing for the HUD icons; may be fixable if I tweak the UI inventory position... hmm...

Good work, will be adding this one to my current CoC game (I expect it will be save compatible). :)
I might even try getting this working in Call of the Zone - I still like the 'old school' HUD even if everyone seems to want minimalist immersion these days.

That's a quest from Barkeep, correct? It should spawn the item and quest marker for it on another map* - if you didn't get an update to your task list with a clickable location marker, you might need to try using an earlier save and accept the task again.

* Mine was located in Agroprom, with a marker and a clickable task entry.

If you can unpack the correct db file (I think it's "configs.db"), look for a file in gamedata/configs named "axr_options.ltx."
Edit the file with something like Notepad++ and you can change the starting stalker population there; the default is "0.25" but you can go high as "1."

Ah, I should have known! Burnt Fuzz doesn't usually get much love from modders so I've forgotten that it used to be more dangerous.
I still remember getting the electronic parts for Nitro in CoP. You'd think I'd have finally learned never to trust the Zone... 😆

So I'm just getting into the game and really like the challenge so far! It's "cruel but fair" as Monty Python might say. 😃

I have a question about companions though:
So I was escorting some n00bs for Sid, and we ran into some blind and pseudo dogs on the way; as we were crossing through the tunnel west of the railroad bridge I noticed one of my dudes had a 'cloud' of stuff swirling around him.

What's up with that? When interacting with him I couldn't see his health or anything and he didn't seem to be dying. I'd already given him a one use left Medkit and he hadn't used it. Did he get irradiated or something? 🤔

In the main menu go to the Video settings.
Try setting your rendering quality to maximum (DX10 or 11) or adjust your fov (default is 45). Changing one or both of these should fix it.

Thanks, Doc! I'll let you (and JimBeamBlack) know when I get a working version. 😁
A preliminary NP++ compare shows a few value changes elsewhere in the files that I'll need to investigate, but like the CoC original "Map_spots" XML files they mostly just deleted the offending 'spots' entries. I should be able to get my tiny dots back without too much trouble!

Yeah, it was more of an annoyance than a worry about the file.
Windows Defender was just really p***ing me off with the whole
