I found a floating stack of dirt going straight up with a tree on the top. The map just generated like that.

Yeah, this happens all the time. When I go cave exploring close to the surface or through a cave under a body of water, there is usually sand hanging out on the ceiling.
If you break one, they all come down, and it usually floods.

On Egypt, it broke after I went heavy, smashed through a wall and then went scout. I got stuck in the wall and could do nothing. I couldn't even go to the menu or console. Hitting backspace didn't work.
